20 month old fighting naps

My dd usually is a good napper. Here and there i would run into issues but overall she would go down for her nap like clockwork for 2 hours around 11-12 everyday.
For the last week she has been fighting them and if shes not fighting them she wont let me put her down.
We were away last weekend and she fell asleep in the car 1 day right before we got to our destination and we couldnt keep her asleep once we got her out ofthe seat which always happens. She wouldnt nap. She went to bed earlier than usual and was a total mess from about 3-4pm because she was exhausted.
The next day same thing she wouldnt nap and then went to bed at 530! For the entire night! But woke up at 430 in the morning. That day she napped but in the car on tghe way home.
Ever since then this whole week she wont nap and if she does fall asleep its on me and wont let me put her down. 2 days i had my mom and then my sister babysit her and those 2 days they got her down for a nap but they said she was exhausted otherwise she was fighting it. It was the 2nd try for both to get her down.
I dont get it. If she didnt need it anymore id say fine ill haveto just deal but its not. She needs it. Shes exhausted. Shes cranky by 3-4pm. When i take her in the car she passes out within 1 minute in her car seat and im not exaggerating. Shes got bags under her eyes. Shes putting her head down when i let her watch a lil tv in her anywhere chair. Or laying herself on the floor.
Shes not that clingy and nighttime is fine. But she wont let me put her down at naptime IF i can get her asleep.

Eta: shes also sleeping less overnight. She usually sleeps 11 hours and shes only doing 9-10. And waking earlier. Going down is no problem...

Helppppp!!! Haha
Thank you for reading my novel!

Can you put her down an hr later? We used to do 2 naps- 10am and 2pm. Now we do 10:30/11. Then they might take another at 3, sometimes not. As long as they get 1.5 at 11am they are usually ok til 8.

My DD did this too for a little bit around this age. Her ped told me just to keep offering naps either it's a phase or she's done with them. Eventually she went back to normal. Good luck. I remember how much it sucked when she was going through it!

PUt her in crib & let her cry it out. She has to have quiet time even if no sleep. If she was in daycare they make them lay down on cot everybody at same time.......if they choose not to sleep fine but have to have quite time

Those are both good ideas. Ill try holding out a lil bit and then ill just let her cio . Because i agree she needs quiet time.

Re: 20 month old fighting naps

Even if mine fuss at the afternoon nap I leave them for a half hr at least. They play, whine, laugh, whine, and sometimes fall asleep.

My dd just cries her head off to the point shes practically hyperventilating. Then I go in there and it takes about 5 minutes for her to calm down. I feel so bad but shes a wreck without the nap.

She went down today thank goodness so Im praying this is over. I hope so I NEED that nap in the afternoon so that I can get some things done around the house when Im off and get work done when Im working LOL
