How much laundry soap do you use?

I use 1.5 of the recommended cups - i like my laundry to smell good

I use 1.5. When washing comforters or other heavy stuff I use 2 cups.

I do one cap full to the very top.

Any more than that causes extra suds and doesnt rinse out well.

I have ended up washing them again.

Usually 1 cup or maybe 2 if it is a large load. I am usually generous because I like the clothes to smell.

Same with fabric softener and dryer sheets.

I always use more than the directions say. I also use fabric softner and fabric dryer sheets.

I use 1 cup - I pour it until the fill line

I usually use the line as a guide. One load=first line. I read that too much soap isn't good.

I always fill it to the top of the cap. I also use Oxy Clean every time in my laundry as well.

I use less than recommended...I have an HE washer but I don't use HE soap so I've read that you should just use a bit less. Our new machine uses so little water that if I over-did it on the soap I'd have to re-wash everything.

Do you know that you really only need to use 1/3 of the soap that is recommended because the only reason you use the soap is to cut through the water to help agitate the clothes and that many manufacturer's add tons of chemicals that are not broken down in the wash and it can eventually lead your washer to break earlier then normal life span. I heard this on Martha Stuart.

when I had a tech come to repair a washer a few years ago, he said the same. You only need about 1/2 of what they recommend. Also if the suds don't wash out completely your clothes won't last as long.

That's what he said.

I still use whatever the container says though.

I have also heard that using too much soap actually leaves a film on your clothes that can attract dirt and lint! I have a Super Plus load setting so if I use that I fill the cup up. If I do a medium load I only fill the cup 1/2 way. Also I use Gain which smells great! I find liquid fabric softener also makes your clothes smell good

I always fill up to the 3 even if its a small load. If its extra big I overfill it. I never use more than the cup though but we have the giant size ones from Costco so its not a capful.
