Any good winter day trips to take with a 2.5 year old?

I'm due w/ #2 in early March. DH has vacation next week. I was hoping to do a fun/ special thing with DD before the baby comes.

I was thinking of Disney on Ice this weekend, but not sure.

My other idea was the movies (she's never been) to see Frozen...but that's not really too special.

Any other thoughts/ideas?

We've been to the Riverhead Aquarium, so unless they have some special winter thing going on, I'd rather not go there.

TIA.

Zoo, aquarium, children's museum, nature centers, white post.

Honestly, my kids get very excited playing "explorer" in the house with flashlights.

its not the most exciting thing, but my DH and two DDs (one is 2.5 the other is a baby) went to barnes and noble, then for pizza and frozen yogurt last weekend and my 2.5 year old had a blast. she loves books and stuffed animals, so B&N was a hit, and she was thrilled to eat pizza and froz yo in a restaurant.

Thanks for both responses. We're thinking along these lines. Maybe ice skating and then eating at a new place, and hyping it up as HER day.

I'm also going to look into the Children's museum and White Post Farm...I didn't think the farm would have winter stuff going on.

Local library!

Even a trip to Petco can be a fun morning.

I agree! We do both of these regularly! My DD can spend an hour watching the fish at Petco! And my library has a great toddler program that I try to attend at least 1x week.

But since DH is going to be home, I was hoping to do something slightly more special.

I think going to the movies to see Frozen would be special. I took DD and she LOVED it. She is 2.5.

We are also going to the aquarium in CT in 2 weeks...

DD has a lot of fun playing in Barnes and Noble...especially if they have a little stage in the kids area. Ours also has a nice Thomas Train track she likes. That is an easy way to spend a good chunk of time.

I still remember my very first movie - I went with my mom to see Peter Pan, before my brother was born! Don't underestimate the specialness of a first movie, especially if movies will be few and far between once #2 comes - the experience won't be watered down!
