Neutering kitten

I just got a new kitten and will need to neuter him soon. My vet wants $100 + $385 to do it!!! I can't believe it is that much! I found Farmingdale Dog and Cat Clinic and they do it for $100. Anyone ever use them? Or North Shore has the same deal. I just am afraid its a factory and my baby wont get proper care. Vets keep him overnight the other two do not.

Re: Neutering kitten

I've had 3 dogs fixed and none of them stayed over.
One I did through the ASPCA.
One was through the vet the recuse used.
And one was through the Humane Society.

So I wouldn't worry about that.

Did you google the clinic to see any reviews?

Re: Neutering kitten

I had a male and female fixed at my vet. Neither ever stayed over either. I can't speak about the place that costs $100, I don't know anything about that but I too would want to be sure of the level of care. I would thoroughly check that before doing it.

Neutering kitten

I had our one cat fixed through North Shore and he was fine. I wouldn't go back there for any other medical needs (long story), but the neutering was fine.

We also did years ago and the kitten came back with fleas that became a year long nightmare.

OP...I personally would just pay for my real vet to do it, jmo,

We had one of our pups fixed at North Shore since that's where we adopted him from. No issues at all.

Our other pup, a pit bull, we had fixed through the ASPCA's project pit. Again, no problems at all. And both were low-cost.

Neither stayed overnight, but they were sorry sights when they got home. My poor pit, her legs just wouldn't work, she was so groggy. She got as far as inside the front door and then wouldn't go any further. Chat Icon I slept on the hallway floor with her and she was back to her old self in the morning, knocking things off the table with her cone of shame. Chat Icon Same with our first pup, from North Shore. He was a hot mess. I slept on the floor with him too because every time I tried to get up, he started whining and whimpering. And the next day he was FINE!

Thanks all! I was afraid of fleas and other things with a more clinic type place. I think I will bite the bullet and do the vet. Thanks!!

Re: Neutering kitten

My vet did not keep my cats overnight for their spay/neuter.
In fact I was able to pick them up a few hours after the surgery.
Did you get the cat from a rescue at all? Usually they will give you references to low cost spay/neuter programs they work with.
Also the current vet I use does a lot of work with rescue animals- maybe they would have a better price.
FM if you want the name

Farmingdale has a very good reputation and that is about the best price.

Male cats are cheaper to neuter than females. My females did stay overnight after spaying, male came home same day.
