8 days overdue. If given the choice would you be induced?

I'm 8 days past my due date, I was supposed to have an appointment tomorrow for them to do another sono, non-stress-test and bio-physical profile (they did all this one week ago and everything looked good). The office called this morning and said that my doctor wants to see me today instead. My SIL uses the same OB and said he will probably offer an induction for this week. Last week they were estimating the baby to be 8 or 9 lbs.! So I'm very concerned about delivering a "big" baby any later but somehow feel that getting induced is cheating nature's process. I don't know, I am very frustrated that I'm late and this will be my third week off from work already which only leaves me 7 more to spend with my baby. This is my first so I'm having alot of anxiety.

Just wondering what you girls would do or have done.

Normally I would try to skip the induction if you and baby are healthy just because some inductions can be tough. But since your FMLA is dwindling and you want to spend as much time as possible with the baby it may be a good idea to get induced.

I would definitely be induced, but if you're not comfortable with it then go ahead and wait it out a little longer. The fear of pushing out a big baby would outweigh the feeling of cheating nature- but that's just me.

I would say wait just a bit longer if you and the baby are ok, but since you're already cutting into your time w/ the baby, then maybe a scheduled induction is best.

I was induced w/ both of mine @ 11 days and 3 days late. My first was "measuring" about 10 pounds a few days before I had him - he was 9 lbs, 5 oz. I would have waited a bit longer w/ #2, but I had low fluid.

I would not be induced unless the doctor strongly advised it. Although, it would be nice to meet your little one soon!!!!

I was 11 days over due with M.And my Doc. wanted to wait afew more days but I asked her to go head and induce me the next day.

I was induced for health reasons, but it was a very pleasant experience...I would do it if I were you, but it's a personal decision...

I wouldn't ever want to be induced but I can understand that you want to spend time with your baby.

I would not choose to be induced based on what I have learned. At this point, sonograms are not that accurate in weight and can be off by more then two pounds. Also, the chances of a C-section are dramatically increased with induction. I would wait it out unless there is a medical reason for an induction.

I think in the end it's a choice only you can make. If all tests came back OK I personally would not be induced and wait it out until the 2 week mark where they pretty much won't give you any other options.

I would def choose getting induced.

I was induced with my DS and will be induced again with this one (most likely). It was great the first time and hopefully will go as smoothly as possible this time.
I would definitely do it if I were you.

Nope..not unless there was a medical reason to do so. I would wait the full 14 days before doing it. An induction increases your chances of c/s. I would also discuss every single pro and con with a doctor that I trusted.

I wish i had that option. My doctor wouldnt induce until i was 2 weeks late. After 13 days of being late my Fluid was too low and they had to induce.

I vote induction!
