xmas toy shopping - sales / good buys
Where do you go for the best price on toys? And for xmas shopping when are the best deals? Last year I went on Black friday but i don't think the deals (at least for the toys i bought) were anything special. What is your strategy?
I wanted to shop ahead this year but i'm not sure if price wise i'm better off waiting a couple more weeks..thanks!

DH and I went to Tanger in Riverhead this past Saturday. The sales were pretty good (there were doing some Halloween thing in the parking lot with AAA so the stores were taking advantage of it I guess). We did most of our Christmas shopping and I'm SO happy we did.
Veteran's Day is coming up so I'm going to look at those sales next month for some more so we can get this out of the way. I HATE the stores around the holidays and would really like to enjoy the holidays this year since it's DS's first.

If you shop at TRU with your reqards card now thru Oct 31st (I think) - you get back 10% of your total purchases in a gift card.
I bought b-day gifts earlier this month and got an email that I have $8.50 waiting for me in a gift card.

I just bought some Little Tyke toys for DS. They were buy 1 get one FREE. So it was a great deal. My trunk is full b/c I didn't tell DH yet! LOL!

I have done well with Target, Amazon and Toys R Us in the past. I tend to buy things that weren't on my list due to good deals. This is when I stock up on classmate gifts as well.
When the kids were younger and didn't have specific items they wanted, it was easier to shop sales. It is more difficult now they want very specific actual items.
