Wedding at 38 weeks

We got invited to a wedding on October 18th and I'm due on November 4. I'm not sure what to do. While I don't think I'll go early, I went to the day before my due date with DS, I'm just not sure I will be comfortable! Also, the thought of getting into a dress and looking pretty is not fun. At that point with DS nothing fit!

Would you go to a wedding at 38 weeks? It's a night wedding also if that matters. TIA for your input Chat Icon

Can you wear a long, loose black/ brown dress with a nice pair of flats or kitten heels? Depending on how you feel by the time the reception is underway, you can just relax and dance only slow dances. I'm sure you will be gorgeous & glowing. One lady was 8 months pregnant @ our wedding and she danced all night. She wanted the baby to come out that night. Lol.

How tired do you usually feel by the evening?

I went to a good friends wedding at 37 weeks. I was a little uncomfortable but we didn't make it a late night.

Re: Wedding at 38 weeks

I would go. I'm 39 weeks now and felt pretty good last week. If anything, I feel way more energetic in the evening/night than earlier in the day. It might be nice to get out.

I would go! I was a bridesmaid in a wedding at 38 weeks, and half way through my pregnancy, I started to freak out that there was no way I'd make it trough the day. Everyone encouraged me to go and stay a brisesmaid and I had a blast!!! I even danced most of the night. It might be nice to have a fun night out before your LO arrives.

My DD wound up being 9 days late anyway. Chat Icon

I would go. You can always leave after dinner, not dance, etc if you are uncomfortable. I am 39w now and I am dying to find things to do to pass the time.

I'm usually tired in the evenings but I also have an almost 1 year old to blame for that! I think we will say yes and hope for the best! That's for the feedback and encouraging me to go!

Wedding at 38 weeks

I went to a wedding at 35 weeks and I delivered at 37 weeks. I went late and left early. Tried flats but ended up in flip flops before I even got out of the car. I'm glad I went. DH knew going in to expect an early leave.

Re: Wedding at 38 weeks

I was a bridesmaid at 37 weeks. I was fine. I didnt have much swelling the whole pregnancy but that night obviously my feet were a little swollen but nothing terrible. I even danced much of the night. Go and have fun.

I'd go! You don't have to stay for the entire thing. How can one say no to cocktail hour food?

Re: Wedding at 38 weeks

I'm invited to a wedding at 39 weeks! (Oct 26 and my due date is Nov 2) and its a vineyard wedding which I have never been to and ALWAYS wanted to go to!

I went to the bridal shower and explained to the bride (first time I met her- I'm old family friends with the groom) that I really wanted to come to the wedding and I didn't want to be rude and RSVP yes but then back out in case I go into labor early or something. And she was totally understanding about it!

Either way I plan on giving them money. I might just leave after the cocktail hour or at least after dinner.

I was the maid of honor at my sisters wedding at 37 weeks. I felt exactly like you did, and complained the entire time that I was going to be huge and uncomfortable. But honestly I felt awesome and when I look back at the pictures I looked great. I had ds a few days after the wedding and so happy I did not pass up the opportunity to go.

Same here. Well, at least I feel excellent right now at 36 weeks but I guess it could tank like the Hindenburg at any moment Chat Icon
