Friends and family visiting hospital...
Are you expected to give out something when they come? I am the first of my friends to have a baby so the only other people I have got to visit when they had a baby was my sister, cousins and sister in law. None of they gave us something when we came to visit except my sister in law and brother in law gave fake cigar and candy to anyone who came in. Is that expected?? A co- worker asked if I had decided what I am going to give to people that visit. I was kind of thrown off guard by this question and just said I hadn't thought about it.... (and didn't plan to). Are we suppose to?

Friends and family visiting hospital...
I never did and I don't plan to this time. Only people I have something for are my DC which is a gift from the baby.

Friends and family visiting hospital...
I don't think you really need to. I've gone to see tons of family members and friends in the hospital after they gave birth and never received anything in return (and didn't expect to either).

NO, I do not plan to with DS. With DD, someone brought us candy cigars and we did pass them out.

Friends and family visiting hospital...
We will be doing the same as what we did for DS. Nothing will be given out to hospital visitors (we are OOS and didn't have any besides parents anyway). However, for anyone that comes to visit us at home I made little treat bags that have 4-5 Hershey kisses in gender colored wrappers tied with ribbon that says "It's a ____". I also have enough to pass around to my coworkers when I'm up to stopping by to visit. My parents will take a few home to pass around to family as well. It's just a fun little birth announcement, that's all.
But as far as passing something out while in the hospital? Absolutely not.

I just want immediate family coming to visit at the hospital. My friends are welcome to come vist once we're home.
When we do get visitors at the house I plan on giving out personalized hersheys. Something like this...

I have never heard of such a thing. Whenever I have gone to the hospital to visit a friend or family member for the birth of a child I always bring something for them.

We did not give out anything with DS. People brought me things -- trashy magazines, nail polish sets, cute pj pants, etc. (only close family visited in the hospital)

I'm giving them the gift of maybe holding my baby for a few minutes. If they want a toy they can go to McDonald's and get a happy meal.
I have never heard of giving anything to visitors either at the hospital or at home.
