16 months. My dd was drinking out a cup for a long time before I took away the bottle. So the transition was easy.

DS - he is 16 mos and still on bottles. He will drink water/juice out of a sippy but has given us a hard time about the milk. I plan to stop bottles cold turkey at 18 mos. We'll see how that goes over...

Started using a straw sippy well before 12 months but at 15 months took all bottles away. DS is 2 1/2 and still loves his milk. All he drinks is milk and water though. I think not giving him any other options has helped him to keep liking milk... though he really loves milk and will drink it all day long if I let him.

DD is 13 months, but we haven't done it yet. Tried using a straw cup, but she refused. In her case, she's still on formula due to a milk protein allergy, and she doesn't get calcium from many other sources, plus she's a skinny-minny, so I need her intake to stay stable. We are going to work on it gradually over the next few months.

Just took my 12 month old bottle away and the first few days she had crying fits, and now she will drink maybe a half of a sippy cup of milk per day (4oz.)
She's mad the milk is in the sippy so most of the time she throws it on the floor and refuses to drink it. She drinks water from straw sippy throughout the day
She gets yogurt, cheese, and other dairy every day so im not worried about her milk intake. My older son stopped drinking milk at 12 months too.

This is my problem. She loves her water in the sippy, but wants nothing to do with the milk.

This is my problem. She loves her water in the sippy, but wants nothing to do with the milk.

My DS was the same way, he loved water out of the sippy but not the milk. So I put it away for 2 months and then tried again and surprisingly he took to it without much fuss. I think they have to be ready. We tried at 13m and it was an epic fail. I tried again at 15m and it's been going very well. He still has a morning and nighttime bottle but I'm going to start taking away the morning one. I'm not worried about the nighttime one right now, I'll probably wait until he's 18m before I try it. My opinion is don't force the issue if she isn't ready. GL!

We did it gradually and were done by 16 months.
Last bottle to go was the bottle before nap.
I just give her a cup instead.

Sean was a little over a year - but he had the binky
Colin is 2 and still has a morning/evening bottle - he has no binky .....it's his thing.

I'm not stressing over taking it from him. By 2.5 it will be gone.

They were both drinking from sippy cups at 6 months, and open cups before 2 (well, ABLE to drink from an open cup - no need for a mess every single day !!)

I took my older DD's away around 2. She only got one at bedtime and I told her it was lost. That's when we started other bedtime habits (laying with her/sleeping in our bed, etc). I'm not going to make that mistake this time. My younger DD gets one for nap and one for bed. She is 17 months now. I feel strongly that she will give it up when she's ready.

She was completely off bottles by about 13 months, the nighttime one was the one I held on to the longest.
During that time, she barely drank milk so I increased yogurt and cheese. She got over it and now loves her milk again!

DD is 26 months and will not give up the Baba. Its her thing. She quit the pacifier at exactly 1 year. I try and delay giving them to her when she asks for one and sometimes it works and sometimes she has an epic melt down. I keep telling her that she is getting to be a big girl and she needs to drink from a cup or a sippy. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. This is really her one thing and I just don't want to deal with the meltdowns, its not worth it to me, i work long days and dont want the little bit of time i have with her her crying and screaming for a bottle. I am hoping that I can convince her that she's too big for them within the next month or so...She is understanding me some because she told the babysitter the other day when she got a bottle that mommy says no.
