Just needed to vent
So DD's 1st birthday is coming up.
I've posted before about people not RSVPing and when I inquired, I got a lot of "maybes". OK, this annoys me but I did kind of already expect a small rsvp response and knew I'd have to track people down. and with the response of "maybe", I know not to count on them very securely.
BUT now... With about a week until the party, 5 actual "YES" people just said we've become a "NO". 5 cancelled already with less than 10 days to go.
I invited 110 people. Right now, if everyone shows up who said yes or maybe, 35 people will be there. But now I feel like other people will just decide not to show up that day without giving us warning and there will be no one there and all of this food will go to waste.

I hate throwing parties for this reason.
I either get way more "Yes" than I expected or no one answers or I feel like NO ONE is going to be there.

I'm trying to be optimistic, leftover food means more for us to take home... but it's going to be outside all day and it's not really good leftover type food so I feel like it will all have to be dumped if not eaten at the party. I just get upset thinking I go through all the work and spend all this $$ for no one to even enjoy it. But DD is all that counts on that day so as long as I get photos of her enjoying it... I guess that should be all that counts. Seriously though, from now on, I won't invite more than 40 and a house birthday party of 10 people will be fine with me LOL.

who RSVPs w/ a "maybe" .......that's so rude !! it's basically telling the host "I'm waiting to see if something better comes up" ......
I'm sorry you have such a small turnout for 110 invited!
Is there maybe something else going in w/in your invite list the same day/weekend?

Yes and to be honest i accept a maybe from 1 or 2 people who give me good reasons otherwise i let people know straight out its yes or no.

I hate "Maybe's". Drives me crazy. Invites go out early enough where people should be respectful and say "Yes" or "No".
When I hear "Oh I have to see or Oh maybe" I so badly just want to say "Ok, so, you're a NO then".
People are rude!
