going to the nail salon

When did you start bringing your DC with you to the nail salon? I'm concerned about the fumes in there. DD is 5 1/2 months old. I am in desperate need of a mani/pedi, but because I am a FTWM, I hate to take time away from her after work or on the weekends. Is it safe for her to come?

Re: going to the nail salon

I wouldn't--I didn't want to expose her to the dust/fumes.
I'm a FTWM and I go during my lunch break.

I don't want to expose her either if they're at all dangerous!!

I guess it didn't occur to me to go on my lunch break because I have a 100 gift certificate to the place close to home (not close to work) that I want to try to use.

Can you possibly go on the weekend at naptime?

This is when I go. It's my me time. I don't want to have to worry about DD and caring for her while I'm trying to dry my nails.

DD is 14 months and I still won't take her, I don't want to expose her to the fumes. I go in the evenings when DH gets home. He's on Daddy duty for a little while and I get some me time.

I would either go on lunch break or weekend when napping.

I walked there with DS when i was on maternity leave and he slept through it.
I would still do it, but he takes really short naps so i think he would get antsy sitting there!

Re: going to the nail salon

It would never occur to me to bring DD to the nail salon. She is rather *unpredictable* and I would never be able to unwind and enjoy myself because I would be fearful of her having a breakdown. I've just gotten creative with when I go. I try to coordinate with DH or my mom to watch her so I can steal away for an hour or go right after work or something. Chat Icon

Re: going to the nail salon

It is my me time! I would never even think to bring my DC.
Plus, I would want my child around the chemicals and fumes etc
That being said, a woman brought her 3 children to my salon last week. None of them got a manicure.. and her three year old was hysterical crying.
The mom stood there with her wet nails and did nothing. Rude in my opinion!
