When did you first give LO nuts?

I'm eating pistachios and DD is begging me for 1. She is almost 2 1/2. I'm such a nervous nelly!

DD tried part of a walnut around 25 months - didn't like it.

Then at 26 months she had a bite of a PBJ sandwhich - liked it.

Just last week at 26 months 1 week she had a small chocolate covered almond. she loved it.

Since she is over 2 if she asks for it I'll let her try it.

We started peanut butter right after his 2nd birthday. He hasn't had any tree nuts yet, but that's more because the opportunity hasn't presented itself.

Around 3+. Mostly worried about choking.

Ds is 19m and he tried sometime between a year and now. I can't remember when.

i didnt give my eldest any until close to two, but my MIL has a nut allergy so i was extra crazy with nuts

We gave my granddaughter the tiniest piece of a walnut in Jan. she was a little over 2 . a few hours later we were in the emergency room. She had an severe allergic reaction and after testing we must avoid ALL nuts and carry an epi pen. She can have peanuts/peanut butter.shes allergic to tree nuts, so be careful. She tested positive to walnuts, pecans, pistachios and cashews.

First did peanut butter at 15 months. Now at 20 months, DD is obsessed with peanut butter (goes to the fridge and says "PB" and will eat it off a spoon) and also loves nuts (peanuts, almonds..) and seeds.

Peanut butter I don't remember when but I know that one day I had the jar opened near him. Then I ate some and kissed him/ played with him etc to see if he might have a contact allergy the next day I gave him some on a spoon. Then I waited and waited. Lol

Tree nuts- I gave him a cookie at Christmas with crushed almonds figuring 'hey he can have peanuts...' and he got five hives around his mouth. Next day I gave him the same cookie and he got the same five hive that disappeared after 10 minutes. Took him for blood work and lo and behold he's not allergic to walnuts, but pistachios and cashews. We were told to avoid all tree nuts altogether.

With my first I gave her peanut butter crackers in the parking lot of the pediatricians office after her second birthday :)

I gave him a smear of peanut butter I would guess about 2. He has eaten nut butters ever since.
He is 3 1/2 now, and I only recently started giving him real nuts (not butters). My fear was choking vs. allergies.

My pediatrician told me that if its allergies your worried about, don't stop giving a particular food once you've started it. So, if you have a fear of nut allergies, once you determine that there is NO allergy....don't just give the nuts/butters once and then not for several months. Keep them steadily in the diet.

When did you first give LO nuts?

Ped gave the okay at DD's 9 month appointment. I think we tried peanut butter around 11 months. She also had slivered almonds around a year.
