I just dont' understand WHO thought this would be a good idea?
Did they not think they'd get TONS of backlash and bad publicity for this?
What publisher was like - yeah this is going to be GREAT for us?

Yeah, how many thought this was a good idea? Really? There were people with legs BLOWN off. People killed. If Paula Deen was fired because of words that offend people, this is much worse offense IMO (different I know). But the point is WE should all dispute this somehow and show our utter disgust for the lack of regard for those who were effected by this MONSTER they are now glamorizing. Killer, murderer, being GLAMORIZED, what kind of sick sick world do we live in???? What can we do to respond, other than NOT buy the magazine?

his face as a monster I get (Time had Bin Laden several times etc)..

but to put "How a popular blah blah was failed" part.. just RUBS me. So we can blame OTHERS for his actions because what? he's INNOCENT?

Booo Hooo poor baby.. he was brainwashed into a terrorist attack?!

NO sympathy from me. Not one sliver.

Glad I cancelled my Rolling Stone Sub..
pathetic

but that's the Time vs Rolling Stone. Time to me is semi news source versus an entertainment magazine who should be interviewing like Adele or something.
They are a failing magazine (like many are these days) and looking for something to bring them into the spotlight. I guarantee this was planned, they knew people would be pissed but they got people talking about them again.

I totally understand why they did it, and they are a far cry from "just" a music magazine anymore. I do not think of it as glorification. If People or Time had put him on the cover, I don't think anyone would be up in arms.

This is DISGUSTING !!

And this is the reason people who would otherwise have ended their own lives quietly, instead walk into a school full of innocent children and adults and slaughter them ........

b/c no one is going to pay attention to the kid who shot himself in his bedroom, but hell, the kid who murdered 1/2 an elementary school? THAT kid is going down in history !!!

It makes me sick and ashamed that as a society, we accept this, and feed into it and people will actually buy that magazine .........

"We wanted to publicly respond to a number of inquiries that we have received. King Kullen will not be selling the August issue of Rolling Stone magazine in any of our stores." From King Kullens FB page.

Right on.

That cover is a slap in the face to all those that suffered that day. F that piece of shit. No one wants to see or read about him.

I have no problem with RS doing a story on him - they often have some really good articles in there that are thought provoking. They're not just a 'music' magazine, they do a lot of topical cultural articles as well.

However, what i have issue with (as others have said) is putting him on the cover in a very flattering picture, essentially giving him 'rock star' status. The cover of RS is very coveted and many bands can go a whole lifetime without ever making it there.

So some impressionable young person, sees the cover of RS with this guy on it, and thinks - ah, i can get there too... all i have to do is kill a bunch of people. I can go out in a blaze of glory and be remembered forever

It's very different from putting a mug shot of a killer on the cover of a news magazine. Or even People magazine showing pictures of him.

This was very deliberate, and done to sell magazines and get attention.
It worked.. but time will tell if it got them too much negative attention and if it backfires.
