Jenny McCarthy is joining The View
Link
One bubbly, perky – and outspoken – blonde is about to be replaced by another.
Less than a week after the departure of Elisabeth Hasselbeck from the syndicated daytime talkfest The View comes confirmation that Jenny McCarthy will succeed her when the show returns for its 17th season Sept. 9.
"YUP, I'M DOING 'THE VIEW'!" McCarthy trumpeted on her blog Monday. "When word got out that Joy [Behar] was leaving 'The View,' I knew that the timing of my desire and her departure might be serendipitous for me."
"Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor," the show's original host and co-executive producer Barbara Walters said in a statement released by ABC Monday morning.
Added the veteran media personality, 86, who next summer plans to retire from appearing on the show: "She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View."
McCarthy, 40, a former Playboy Playmate and talk host – of her own show, where she ignited her latest romance, with Donnie Wahlberg – said in her statement about joining Walters, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd on the program: "I'm beyond thrilled … I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off."
McCarthy is no stranger to speaking out on controversial subjects, and has been a vocal opponent of certain childhood vaccines that she suggests may contribute to autism. Her son, Evan, 11, has autism.
The conservative-leaning Hasselbeck departed for FOX News, while, in other news involving cast regulars, the liberal-leaning Joy Behar is scheduled to exit next month.

.
Her son does not have autism. She very quietly announced awhile back that he had a different disorder that mimicked autism but was controlled with diet. Everything she did to convince people not to vaccinate was, IMO, like crying FIRE in a crowded theater.

I can't stand her for several reasons. I'm not home to watch The View anyhow, but now when I happen to be off from work, I certainly won't.

Lots of controversy over this because of JM's anti-vaccine position.

Did SHE actually say this, or it was speculated by others? Only asking because I have never read this. I have read, and seen interviews where she says she recovered him from autism. Of course many believe if you recover, it wasn't autism to begin with.

I have never heard her say her son didn't have autism, she mut have said it very quietly after all the fuss she made about how vaccines are evil and she cured him through his diet, I am not looking forward to hearing her opinions on the show, I never watch anymore anyway I can't stand it now

She said it very quietly in an interview with Time Magazine which I can't link because I am no longer a time subscriber. Here is an article from another site which provides a synopsis of the Time article:

thank you for the link, I do give her credit for always advocating for her son and never giving up, but I think she went a little far at times, although I guess those were her beliefs at the time and she truly believed them, when it comes to your child you have to do everything and anything you can to help them, I do agree we need to have even better research on vaccines and not just do away with them

I hope the show doesn't become a platform for her views against vaccines. She is not qualified enough to make statements about vaccines. While I don't know if the vaccines cause autism and other conditions, the benefits do out weight the risks. I personally have a friend whose aunt born outside of US never got a polio vaccine and has an atrophied leg and she regrets not getting the vaccine.
