Is it just me or is this disgusting?

Although I could think of 25 other places to change my kid's diaper, it wouldn't skeeve me at this age. No more peeing or pooping when I change him. But I really don't understand why anyone would offer that to someone else. Like my kid doesn't skeeve me, but that doesn't mean that you're kid doesn't. KWIM?
I'd use the floor before the table though. I don't think I would ever think to even use it.

Nope. Changing a kid on a kitchen table IS nasty.

I prefer to change mine on the floor. We put a pad down and there are no issues with rolling.

Re: Is it just me or is this disgusting?

when my twins were younger i did, not ever when there was food. I also never let their bottom hit the table. Only in that in between stage where they dont pee at a change and try to run away. so for a few months.

I would never do it at someone elses house.

Re: Is it just me or is this disgusting?

When DD was an infant...like under 3 months...I changed her on a Dining Room table at my moms house ANd at DH's aunts house...both times this was offered to me as the spot to change the baby. I think a dining room table is different than a kitchen table that people eat at AlL the time...but I used a changing pad and its not like I made a mess while changing DD...I preferred up high on a clean surface than bending down on a germy floor, IMO.

Is it just me or is this disgusting?

Thats where my inlaws change DS because its the easiest for them height wise. They put a towel, a pillow, and a waterproof mat down so I don't really find it gross at all. I have changed my kid in much worse sotuations than that! Chat Icon

I agree with you - 100 other places to change a diaper.

I've become pretty lax when it comes to germs but NEVER in the kitchen. That's gross.

I don't think it's disgusting. Not my first choice, but certainly not over the top disgusting. I assume this house had cleaning products you could have used afterwards.

While I see your point...yes, it can be gross...maybe it was your response that caused your aunt to respond the way she did. You didn't need to say, "ewwwww..." you could have said something like, "no thanks, I'd prefer to do it here." sometimes it is all in your delivery, kwim?

ehh doesn't bother me. there is ALWAYS something under her, never a bare bottom touches anything that I am changing her on.

also, if by some chance there was a mess (regardless of location) it would be cleaned properly.

I would rather change her on a table that has not been touched by people's shoes that have tracked god knows what Chat Icon

ETA - obviously I wouldn't do it if there was FOOD on the table. Otherwise, no issues

Not his aunt. I responded to his sister who offered up the aunt's table.

I don't think it is a big deal either. I had an acquaintance that had a large kitchen and a large kitchen island, her whole house was big. When her DD was still in diapers she had one side of island set up with a changing pad, wipes and diapers. She put it away for parties, but for durning the week and weekends she kept it out.

I can think of stranger places to change a baby.

Lol - sorry. That wasn't really the point of my response though.

No I get your point. It's just that if the aunt had offered in her house I never would've said ewwww, but someone else was suggesting it. How do I know how the aunt feels about it. There's always a snarky remark from his sister every time I see her. Chat Icon
