Making baby food spin off
Those who make their own did you buy a special system or use appliances you have at home.
Wondering because there is a zulily special for sage spoonfuls and don't know if I should get it

DD is going to be starting foods soon (in 2 weeks)...wondering how to make them. how to store them. how long they last etc

I just steam everything in the mircowave. I read that is best b/c it's a shorter cooking time and the less time you cook, the more nutrients are retained. I then put it in my magic bullet or food processor. The only thing I bought special was a filling station. I used ice cube trays for a while and it took up so much time and then the food was not convenient on the go. It was not expensive and well worth the money. I even made sure to wash the bags out really well as soon as I took the food out and let them dry so I could get one more use out of them (make sure you rinse them very well, multiple times with soap to get them really clean)http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=15439726

I didn't buy anything. I used what I had including a steamer basket, blender, food processor, and ice cube trays.
Definitely start by checking out wholesomebabyfood.com. It has all the info you need on how to start.

I tried the food processor but it never pureed enough for one on my girls. I ended up buying the nutribullet and loved it. I use It for juice/shakes for myself and puree all their food in it. Love it!

Making baby food spin off
I make their food in large batches, so those little steamers dont work for me. i use a regular Cuisinart mini food processor (I do't even bother to schlep out the big one from the basement,lol ) and steam the food on the stove in a steamer basket. I also roast things like pears and butternut squash.
Just a tip- at first, I strained their food in a chinois in case there were little tough fibers (there were).
I freeze them in ice cube trays or the beaba silicone molds and store them in ziploc bags. When it's time to feed, I put them in a Pyrex dish in the microwave for 30 secs.

only thing i bought was bpa free ice cubes.
step 1 - steam, boil, or bake the food with things i already had (for steaming, i just put a collander inside a big pot with a bit of water). I'm not a fan of using the microwave for baby food.
step 2 - blend it using a regular blender
step 3 - put into ice cube trays and cover with saran wrap (though my new trays actually came with covers which is handy)
when i feed him, i defrost / reheat everything in pyrex bowls.
