first shoes

I have a feeling DD will be cruising soon and possibly and early walker. So, I'm thinking about her first pair of walking shoes. They should be the soft sole kind right? I'm looking at some sales at robeez but I want to make sure I get the right kind. How long should LOs be in soft sole shoes?

I believe barefoot is best when they are first learning to walk. Unless of course they'll be outdoors.

DD was barefoot until she was actually walking, and then I went to the Stride Rite outlet and got her a pair of $18 sneakers.

I agree with the above - start out with barefeet, but maybe get a pair of Robeez if you think you'll be outside?

DD started walking about a month ago and we went to Stride Rite and got her a few pairs of shoes (real soled) for when we're out.

I agree with the barefoot comment.

I like Robeez but, DS slipped around a lot in them when starting to walk. People recommended pedi-ped to me and Stride Rite now has an early walkers line.

When taking DD outside she wore pedi-peds.

I would hold out until she's actually cruising and then go with sneakers for when you'll be outside. Otherwise, barefoot like others suggested. DD stood in place for 3 months before she started cruising. I thought she'd be walking early too since she was standing at 6 months but she's 14 months and still just cruising. Her first sneakers were from Payless and they were great. She's now in stride right first walkers which are hard soles but rounded.
