Re: starting table foods
DD was close to 6.5 months (was EBF up until then) and we started with rice cereal in the morning. We then did oatmeal and barley and then butternut squash.

starting table foods
Our ped suggested puffs, cheerios, toast, meat, and steamed veggies at 8 months I also started mixing pastina into her purees. I think I was doing the puffs and cheerios more like 7 months. By 9.5 months, she was eating all kinds of table foods like waffles, crackers, chicken nuggets, rice, pasta, anything. The ped said anything but honey or choking hazards was okay at that point.

Re: starting table foods
DS will be 7 months on the 5th. He started with avocado around 3.5 months, all veggies & fruits after that. I buy ground turkey which I cook and mix into steamed and mashed veggies or a jar of veggies. He started plain greek yogurt around 5 months and now is eating puffs, cut up blueberries/raspberries/watermelon. He had small cuts up pieces of pasta the other night and cream of wheat. He does well with most foods.

Re: starting table foods
Im assuming you are refering to "adult" food and not purees.
We started table food around 7 months by just giving DD bits of our meals. Children do NOT need teeth to eat food. Give them small pieces and they will used their gums to break it down. My DD went nuts for anything we gave her (especially things with lots of flavor) and still eats rather well at 19 months. I'll never forget DD eating shortribs when we were in Disney last summer at 9 months.

sorry to hijack, but I was just wondering about this too... dd is almost 8 months and has zero teeth... and as far as purees go, she will NOT eat ANY fruits, so she's really giving me a run for my money. she also won't eat fruit I've put in those little mesh things. and she has a milk allergy so I feel like a lot of stuff is "out" to even try. what "adult" foods did you start with? I need ideas. I gave her a saltine today and she did really well with it but I had anxiety the entire time thinking she was going to choke!

Re: starting table foods
DD is 8 mos and I am starting to offer bits and pieces of cut up veggies and fruits. They are hard to grab because they are slippery! I do it a few times a week to let er practice and usually follow up with a puree.
She started puffs around 7 mos and also likes mum-mums.

I give ripe bananas cut up. I mash them a bit. I put fruit in the mesh bags too. They love that. I want to try steamed carrots too.

What kind of fruit do you put in the mesh bags? DS still won't eat purees at 8 months so I'm hoping if I try something other then purees he'll start eating solids.

I put Mangoes, Canteloupes, frozen bananas and peaches into those mesh thingies. They want it cold because it soothes their teeth. Poor girls are teething.
