Another ear piercing ques..
DD will be 4 mo on Thur & I plan to get her ears pierced this weekend at the Ped office.
She is a side sleeper & I am afraid the earrings will bother her while she is sleeping on her side.
Do you ladies think this will be a problem?
also- you don't think 4 mo is too young to get her ears pierced do you? a lot of ppl (including DH) are telling me to wait.

Re: Another ear piercing ques..
I had DD ears pierced at 3 months. Most of my friends/family said their kids handled it better at the younger ages (3-6 months) than older, say 1-5 years. My DD screamed for 5 minutes and then never peeped about them after that, not even once. Not even when I turned the earrings. I never noticed that she was bothered when sleeping either. Glad we did it when we did. Good luck!

Another ear piercing ques..
I had DD ears pierced by the ped. at her 4 month visit. Dd too is a side sleeper and her earrings have NEVER bothered her. She cried for about 30 seconds after it was done and was completely fine. I got them done at this age because she isn't aware that they are there and doesn't tug at them or anything so they were able to heal.

Re: Another ear piercing ques..
When DD got her ears pierced at the Ped they used surgical plastic studs with screw back posts. When I bought gold earrings to replace those I made sure to buy children screw back earrings. They sell them everywhere macys, kohls. They do not poke or stick out in the back like adult earrings. She is 10 months and has had no issues.

Dd got them at three months. No sleep issues at all. They have safety backs. So nothing is poking them.

DD is a belly sleeper but obviously turns her head - no problems! I even asked the ped this question, he said no worries!

Re: Another ear piercing ques..
I had DD ears pierced at 3 months. She also sleeps on her side and I never had any problems. As far as to when to have them done, I think it's a personal decision. In my family, all of the girls had them done at soon as they had their shots. So I just kept with the tradition. However, some people wait until they are old enough to ask for them. Which I think it's also very nice.

I got it done at 5 months. She sleeps on her belly and the side that her face rests does get irritated. But they have safety backs that don't scratch.
