switching from Alimentum to Enfamil AR?

DD is 5 months. We put her on Alimentum around 6 weeks for what we thought was a milk protein sensitivity but she was then diagnosed with severe reflux. I think the symptoms were all reflux related. (no BM test was ever done for blood)

Now at 5 months, my supply of Alimentum is almost gone and I am considering switching her to AR? Has anyone ever made this switch?

We tried taking her off her zantac slowly but that backfired. She began vomiting when laying flat. Back on her 2ml 2x per day zantac and all is well again.

Any other suggestions? Insurance doesn't cover Alimentum so if she doesn't NEED it, i'd prefer to go a different route. I guess the only way to know is to try.

Would Enfamil AR be best? I know I should call my ped but he will tell me to stick with Alimentum since its working but ... he isn't paying for it. Chat Icon

idk if I would chance it. I would try to hold out for a few more months. Many babies outgrow the allergy around 8 months. I know it's expensive but if she's doing well, i'd keep her on a little longer.

I have a feeling there is no allergy. I changed her in the beginning due to spit up and fussiness. She never really exhibited the true allergy signs like my son did (mucous in stool, blood, dry skin etc etc). I guess we should try to hold out for a few more months. The different in price isn't THAT huge but any savings is good Chat Icon

I hear ya. I'm texting my friend to see if she has any extra for you. Her insurance covers it. I donated the rest of my dd's otherwise I would give it to.you.
