Almost rolling over in sleep
DD will be 20 weeks next week and is closer than ever to rolling over on her belly in her sleep. I know they say babies should not sleep on their bellies at night til they are a year old. Should I be concerned if she does and is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Almost rolling over in sleep
When dd did this I kept going in and turning her over because I was paranoid. The ped told me not to worry about it. Now dd is 8.5 months and she pretty much always sleeps on her belly.

Almost rolling over in sleep
My DS rolled over at 4 months and stayed that way. He has been sleeping on his stomach since.
Dr told me it was fine once they could do it on their own.
I never heard of the 1 year thing. If I went by that neither one of us would have ever slept.

Re: Almost rolling over in sleep
DD just turned 5 months today and has been sleeping on her belly for 2+ weeks. She immediately rolls when I put her down, there is nothing we can do about it.
Ped said its fine. Once they have the strength and control, there is nothing you can do.
BONUS - she sleeps much better now

Almost rolling over in sleep
DS has been sleeping on his belly since a little before 4 months. At first I was paranoid, because he couldn't roll back to his back, but he has great head control. He sleeps so much better on his back AND there is nothing you can do unless you sit in the room turning the baby over all night!

Re: Almost rolling over in sleep
DD had been sleeping on her tummy since around 4 months. As soon as I lay her down, she flips right over. Nothing I can do about it.

Almost rolling over in sleep
My ped said always put them on their backs but if they turn on their own you don't have to move them

Re: Almost rolling over in sleep
Same as the others. DS learned how to roll onto his tummy a few weeks ago and has been sleeping that way every since.
I never heard the 1 year thing. I've always heard that once they can roll over, then you let them sleep however they are most comfortable. Just make sure you are no longer swaddling because babies need their arms once they are able to roll.
