dd sleeping less

My dd is about to turn 1. The last few days she has only been sleeping 8 hours overnight and taking her usual 2 naps a day for an hour. BUT she fights those naps soooo bad and wakes crying. Completely unlike her.my dd is abnormally good she rarely cries. Only when she is starving or super ridic tired or hurts herself.

while shes still very happy and mostly herself shes also been throwing tantrums. If i tell her no shes not allowed to touch that, or put that in her mouth or i pick her up cause shes going near something she shouldnt, She screams at the top of her lungs cries hysterically kicks her legs tries to push me away and throws whateva is in her hands. She looks tired all day. and then the last 2 nights shes going to bed later but still waking earlier! Shes killing me lol

I dont know why this is suddenly happening. Anyone experience this?

She usually sleeps about 11 hours plus 2 naps happily. Only once in a while does she fight her naps but usually cause shes playing and doesnt want to stop.

Also want to add this: last week for the first time my dh had to go away for business for a few days. In those few days she was great. She slept great. 12 hours sttn. and went to bed earlier than usual (fighting the afternoon naps with my mom who was baby sitting while i work) Dont know if this has anything to do with it.

Re: dd sleeping less

I'm no help but my DD is 10 months old and has only ever slept 10-12 hours total in a 24 hour period. she would do 8-10 at night (with wake-ups) and 2-3 in naps, so 10-12 hours. Maybe your DD doesn't need as much sleep now as she did before? Maybe 1 nap instead would make her sleep more at night.

I dont mind if she needs less sleep but it doesnt appear that way. Shes tired cranky and has bags under her eyes. Not even kidding! When my dd is tired her eyes get red underneath.

To me, the waking up crabby is definitely a sign that she's not sleeping enough. I would try to put her down earlier for bed. DD always wakes earlier if she goes to bed late. Maybe she's ready for one longer nap? DD dropped to one before her first birthday bc she was refusing to take a second nap no matter what I did. It took her a little while to adjust, to not be tired by the end of the day and for that one nap to stretch from one hour to two or three hours. She would also get crabby at her normal nap time so it took time to push that nap back from 10am to 12:15. I would definitely look at her schedule and see if you want to make any adjustments.

Thats a good idea. Maybe ill take her lead today and see if its that she wants het schedule to change a bit. Maybe shes ready for an adjustment your right. Ill try that out for the next few days see how it goes.

Thanks for the advice. I havent even thought of that. I actually started wondering if it had anything to do with my dh being away.

She is growing. Around 1 DS dropped to one nap. He only sleeps 10 hrs a day anyway.

As for being cranky...stages stages stages. They are becoming more independant and want to do more. SO the terrible 2s actually start now.
