DD is 5.5 months and has been going to daycare for just over a month. We are so happy with the place, except for its cost and location. We got a call that she was called on the waitlist for another option.

1. Stay with current daycare:
Pros: very loving environment. Small, only about 30 kids total. Very comfortable and do not worry during the day. Opens at 7 am
Cons: have to take subway 1 express stop. Express station is busy and annoying with elevators. Takes 15-20 mins to drive to.

2. Switch to new daycare:
Pros: save $500 a month. Walking distance, but it's a full 10 min walk.
Cons: Not as nice of an infant room. Very large daycare with 170 total kids (only 8 infants). Infant room does not have windows. Opens at 8 am and closes at 6 but is 15 mins further away from work (would be very tight being able to leave work so early every day)
Unknown: if we will like the teachers and be as comfortable?

I think we would have to give a months notice at the current place, so we would be on the hook for about 1k - negating 2 months of the savings. We also hope to be moving in the next 6 months to long island, but need to sell apt first.

I would stay where you are. I know it's tempting to save $500 a month but you seem to be happy with the more intimate and loving facility your DC is curently in and you can't put a price tag on that. You feel safe there.
I also wouldn't like stressing everyday about leaving early to pick her up! I think that would become an issue for you down the road.

Stay where you are.... If you stay your little one is happy. If you move its a transition, new teachers...etc... then if you come to Long Island...and to another center...its another transition all over again..
Stay at your place.. Not liking no window in a baby room
