Re: Juice question

Our older son is 3.5 and we still don't give juice. IMO, there is no need for it, it is just empty sugar with no nutritional value. We allow him to have it at parties, etc, but not on a regular basis- just water and milk. Same goes for out 1.5yo.

Re: Juice question

I never gave juice. My DD is 3 and now she can have it at parties if she wants, but she always refuses it and chooses water.

Re: Juice question

At 6 months, he started to get 100% white grape juice.. But he had belly issues and white grape is good for the intestinal tract. I also had to use it to put his vitamins and reflux meds in. He never got more the 2 oz a day. And it was watered way down. He is now 3.5 years old and he drinks 3-4 oz of very watered down 100% grape juice. He won't drink water plain. I usually just put a splash of juice in his water. When it is really hot, I will give him just about what ever he will drink (lemonade and 100% fruit punch).. He dehydrates really fast..

And he gets 100% pear juice when he is backed up. Prunes/prune juice didn't work.

Juice question

Dd will have some apple juice with her lunch/diner. We water it down and she only drinks half a cup so I'm not really concerned about her getting empty calories. We've been giving it to her since... I dunno 7-8 months maybe...

Juice question

The only juice we give DD is prune juice when she's constipated which is once in a while. And it's only an ounce of juice mixed in with a couple ounces of water.

Re: Juice question

DD loves juice, and we started giving it to her when she was about 15m. She tends to get really constipated, and if we add 2 oz of juice to a 10 oz. sippy cup full of water, she'll chug the whole thing and ask for more. She needs as much liquid as she can get, so for 4 oz. of juice or so a day, I don't feel guilty giving it to her.

ETA: you asked which kinds. Pear juice is great if she's constipated. Otherwise, we just give her what we have in the house (DH drinks juice with breakfast) - Trader Joe's Orange Peach Mango blend seems to be her favorite though.

Re: Juice question

I don't remember how old my kids were, but I give them either 100% juice, or organic lemonade most of the time. They also really like V8 Splash. I try to cut their juice with water still though and they're 3 and 6.5.

DD started around 2. He hardly has it though and if he does its water with a splash of juice. He really loves seltzer with lemon or lime or chocolate milk.

Juice question

DS is 2. He gets juice once in a great while as a treat- maybe two or three times a month. I buy the Mott's apple juice and water it down. 99% of the time he gets milk or water.

Re: Juice question

My ped said they no longer recommend juice since it's really just sugar and empty calories.
That said, she does get some juice here and there- mixed with water.
Usually OJ watered down and on a rare ocassion if we are out she will get apple juice in a restaurant..
But I didn't really give her ANY juice until closer to 2 years old.

DS is 3 1/2 and only gets it occasionally. I think he started around 2- he was intrigued by the boxes at school parties. He doesn't drink enough of it to concern me.

The only time I would give DS juice was when he was constipated and it was really watered down. Just milk & water for this guy.

Juice question

We gave her juice per our doc when she's been sick. Prob starting at 10 months or so. The doc said the formula gave her more mucous, so we were told to give her juice at night instead of formula. Now we give her juice mixed with water, since she doesn't like plain water too much. She's a year old.

Re: Juice question

We've never given juice and do not plan to.

Once DS had a terrible stomach bug around 19 months and he refused to drink the pedialite I tried to give him because he only knows water and milk.

Re: Juice question

My kids are juice drinkers - probably from 6 months + when I started the sippy cup -I'd put a tiny bit in the cup w/ water ......

They also drink water, and milk

No problems with their teeth, I'm a crazy fanatic about brushing, and I don't see the big deal about them getting some sugar -

They drink orange, apple and white grape - all watered down.

Re: Juice question

I think my 3.5 year old has had juice once and my twins (15 months) have not had it at all.

We aren't juice drinkers in general, so we don't keep it in the house. My kids LOVE water! My little ones drink at least 3 large sippy cups each per day and my older one drinks a ton too. We don't do cow's milk either.... my kids just love their water!

Honestly it's all my son really knows. He knows that other kids at his school drink juice and that he doesn't. He doesn't care at all and never even asks for it. For us, it's not a big deal. He has allergies (peanut, tree nut and sesame) and I think he just understands that there are things he can eat/drink and things he can't. It's not really a question in our home.

Pretty much the same thing.
Especially when they are sick I may put some more in for the sugar.
