Re: bumbo seat

I will never ever put my child in a bumbo ever again.

I had my son in it, on the floor, I was sitting right next to him but stood up for a moment to put the clothes i was folding into his drawer. He lifted himself up out of it and flopped down face first onto the floor splitting that skin that connects your gums to your inner lip.

I got the strap in the mail but haven't even put it on. my son is too old / big for it now but even still...after seeing the blood in his mouth I just can't shake that image. never again

That's awful!! Poor little guy! I didn't use mine much, I don't think they really cared much for it. FYI even though you got the strap you can still return it and get store credit since it was recalled. Target and Walmart should take it.

All of my DC hated it and outgrew it quickly. My one DC had REALLY chunky thighs and actually never fit into it.

Like a PP said, if you can get t used, go for it. If not, IMO, it isn't a necessity.

Re: bumbo seat

We didn't use one - I didn't see the need since we had a Fisher Price Rocker.

That said, if you Google it, you'll see numerous articles about the Bumbo not being a great seat because of the position it "forces" your DC into. That's why so many children try to get out of it and only last for a short period of time. It's not good for their hips/legs.

We have the Summer Infant seat with the tray that goes around it with toys in it. I like how it keeps dds attention plus I can attach other toys onto the toys that come with it, plus the tray makes it so she can't fall out like a pp said happened with the bumbo, which doesn't have a tray

Summer Infant super seat MUCH better and lasts longer because your dc will have more to play with so you get so much use out of it. If I had a bumbo my dd wouldn't have stayed long because she would get bored in a heartbeat

This.

We bought the Summer one instead. DD has a great time looking at and trying to pull at the toys (she talks to them non-stop). She's 3 mos.

When I asked one of the PTs at my school, she did not recommend using it.

We had the summer infant one. It has straps, a tray and toys and then converts to a booster. It was more practical.

We never had a bumbo but we had a similar seat that did a lot more. It was DD's and she used it tons, it actually would occupy her for a while (not much else did). DS just turned 4 months and we started him in it today actually. He really likes it too. I'd definitely recommend this seat, especially since you can use it as a booster down the road.

Wasn't a fan, I didn't trust the thing

CAn you explain what you didn't trust about it? I don't see what there is to trust? Chat Icon

ETA: both of my DDs enjoyed sitting in it but I started using them early (by 2 months) so they didn't try to climb out.

I would suggest this over the bumbo.
