Does you 5month old hold their bottle
I keep running into other moms who comment that my DS should be holding his bottle...?
How can I help him? He holds the bottle up by the nipple and cant get it at the angle needed to suck. Im working on it... but is it that big of a deal??

5 months is still young. My DD didn't hold her own bottle until 6 months old. I wouldn't sweat it. Your DS will do it when he's ready.

ITA. 5 months old is still really young. Don't listen to other moms. Every kid is different.

5 months is very young! My 11-month-old did it briefly at 9 months, then stopped. So annoying!

I agree with the other posters, 5 months is a bit young. I thought my DS wouldn't hold his own bottle until I made a comment to daycare about it and they said "oh, he holds his own bottle" LOL. Just not with ME because he knew I would hold it for him. So I tried just dropping it one day while he was in the middle of drinking and sure enough he picked it up himself and kept drinking. He was older though, I want to say more like 8 months. No need to push the issue yet IMO.

Same with my 8 month old. She'll hold her sippy cup no problem, but never holds her bottle for more than a few minutes per feeding. I wouldn't worry!

Does you 5month old hold their bottle
MY DS didn't until he was 10 months. He was walking before he held his bottle. And it wasn't that he couldn't...he didn't want to. Why would he when he could snuggle in with me and I would hold it for him!

Does you 5month old hold their bottle
Both of my boys didn't start holding their bottles until they were about 10 months. They physically could haveone it earlier but had no desire.
Don't worry about what others say.

Yup 7.5 mo. One pulls her hands away once I put them on it. the other can hold it but then plays and drops it.

Re: Does you 5month old hold their bottle
7.5 month old doesn't hold her bottle yet. Not worried in the slightest since she seems to hit most milestones early.
Maybe they just forgot or they DC looked about the same size as your DC and are comparing by size only?
Eh... I don't listen too much to other people. DD looks happy. Dr. is happy. And if mommy feels something is off she's usually right! So trust your mommy intuition!

DD didn't start holding her bottle until 7 months, and even then it wasn't all the time.

Re: Does you 5month old hold their bottle
My DS never held his bottle. He was perfectly capable. He just didn't want to. And I didn't really care either way so I just kept holding it for me. He never had any trouble switching to sippys and holding those.

Re: Does you 5month old hold their bottle
My DD is 6 months and doesn't hold it. She tries to grab at it but usually just pulls it out of her mouth.
My first DD didn't hold her bottle until at least 10 months, she had no interest in holding it.

Neither of my kids even held their own bottles. They just never cared to. It isn't a milestone, so it never bothered me.

Same, exactly, with my DS. Never held it himself... just didn't want to. I didn't think it was that big of a deal.

My 9 month old doesn't hold his yet. And honestly I don't mind. He's not a cuddler so it's the one time I can snuggle him!

Re: Does you 5month old hold their bottle
5 months is young! My twins did it at 6 months but I think the only reason why is because they always got bottles in their bouncy seat and learned early because they didn't want to wait while the other baby was being burped. Don't worry!!!

Does you 5month old hold their bottle
My 11 month old JUST started doing that. I think 5 months is rather young. And I hear the opposite, most of my friends tell me their kids never held it or didnt until they were like 10-12 months.

Re: Does you 5month old hold their bottle
You will soon learn that all kids do things at different times. 5 months is way to young to hold a bottle. My kids never liked to hold there own bottles. It was more laziness than anything else.
