Toddler Crossing Eyes?
Is this normal?
I caught my nephew (23m) doing it the other day and I laughed and pointed it out to my sister in law- thinking it was a fluke.
She said "Oh he does that all the time!"
I already have my concerns about him- but this just struck me as odd.
Is it a normal thing? When I mentioned it to DH he said that I don't have a frame of reference other than my own 2 (both girls) and that I should MYOB- which I plan on doing regardless.
Just wondering if anyone has experience.

Toddler Crossing Eyes?
Does he do it thinking he's being funny?
My niece crossed her eyes often as an infant and now at 18 months wears glasses. Maybe this is the case for him as well?

it can be normal. my son did it at 11 months but i had a feeling something was wrong. i took him to the pediatrician who told me "it was normal". i still had a feeling so i took him to 3 pediatric eye doctors who all told me he needed glasses.
tell your SIL to take him to the doctor and get him checked out just in case. better to have tried and nothing be wrong.

She won't- she thinks it's funny. She was supposed to have him evaluated for a host of other things months ago and never did, so I've given up. 
He doesn't do it for attention because he doesn't really acknowledge that people are watching him- he doesn't really care about attention.
I wasn't even thinking its a vision problem. I'm fairly convinced he has a sensory issue and that this may be a manifestation- but you are right, it could very well be a vision thing.
If I see it happen again, I may tell her to mention it to the ped, but, like I said, she won't anyway.

I would have him checked.
I never paid much attention to my DD's eyes until I got a call from the school nurse. She has a lazy eye and is currently wearing a patch to correct it BUT the ophthalmologist said that this is an issue that can only correct itself up until the age of 6 or so... at that point their vision becomes fixed and I believe the only way to correct it is with surgery.
With that in mind, it's worth it just to go and see. The sooner the better!
