Potty training question

My dd just turned 18 months. The last few weeks she has been telling me when she goes potty and wants to be changed right away. My niece, who is 3 is potty training now and my dd sees this since we watch my niece during the day. This past week and a half, my dd has been wanting to sit on the potty too. At first she would tell me after she went already but still wanted to sit on the potty so I let her, then she would tell me in the middle of going (only for poop she doesn't tell me for pee) now she is telling me right before she goes and wants to sit on the potty. I'm assuming this is all because she sees her cousin sitting on the potty. My question is really, should I pursue potty training for both pee and poop because she seems interested or do I just continue with letting her poop of potty and wait until she seems ready for peeing? I've heard so many stories where some people will try to train at 18 months and then it takes forever until their dc is actually trained. I am not working right now so ideally this is a good time for me to train her but I don't want to push this if she isn't ready even though she is the one that seems to want to do it. I wasn't planning on trying until around 2 and a half. I'm trying to follow her cues so maybe I should just stick to that?

My DS showed similar cues at that age. I sort of let him run with it. No need to push, but you certainly don't want to discourage her! I let him go when he wanted to/told me he needed to and switched him to pull ups at that point. By 2yo he was fully poop/pee trained, and in underwear. Poop was after pee for us though. He essentially trained himself, not much work on my part.

My daughter is 21 months and tells me when she goes and runs into her room yelling to me to change her diaper. She also sits on the toilet and pretends to go pee pee (has never actually gone) and goes through all the motions of wiping, flushing and washing her hands. With all that said, I still don't think I'm going to attempt to really train her until maybe 2.5. I know she is imitating her brother (who wasn't trained until just after 3) when she does all these things, so I don't know if she is truly ready or just in the mimic stage. I would just go with the flow for now and encourage it when she wants to but not press the issue.

Thanks! That was actually my next question, should I switch her to a pull up. I recently took her off the bottle so she doesn't have anything at night but still wakes with a wet diaper so I should still do pull ups at night?
