Sippy cup
My DS is eight months old and refuses to drink from a sippy cup 90% of the time. Does anyone have any tricks or suggestions on how to get him to drink from a sippy cup? I just bought ones with a straw today and will try those out tomorrow he had been using these soft valve ones.

Sippy cup
My suggestion was going to be go to straw cups. I've had numerous people tell me (the ped, speech therapists, preschool teachers) that sippy cups, especially the soft spout ones are nothing but glorified bottles and can create speech i issues. Straw cups are better because they make different muscles in the mouth work and the sucking motion is different.
I started ds with the playtex little grippers that you can squeeze and the water comes up the straw. After a month or so he got the hang of it. I plan on using them with dd2 in a few months when she starts water.

I totally second the playtex little grippers and for the same reason as previous poster stated .My ped recommended them and my dd got the hang of using it pretty quickly. Hopefully this will help with DS.

I found this cup by Sassy at BRU. It's called the drink around cup. It has no spout and no straw. It looks like a regular cup. But it has an insert to prevent spilling. We use that and it works great.

adding we also have ths cup, but it does tend to leak and be messy
not such a good idea
