Best cow's milk alternative
So after a month's ordeal I finally got the results of DD's allergy testing and they only tester her for boiled milk. Uggh, she has no issues with cooked milk, just uncooked milk and cheese. Sorry for the minor vent, I'm just so annoyed that I didn't get the info I needed.
Anyway, there are so many alternatives out there. I have no idea what is best. Any advice on what to look for? She has no allergies to soy, almonds, or coconut so all those are possibilities. I just want what is most nutritious and hopefully something she won't hate.

We do almond. No allergies, just bc I think it's great nutrition. We actually do 1/2 organic whole milk and 1/2 almond.

Re: Best cow's milk alternative
We saw a pediatric nutritionist because my almost three year old has a milk protein allergy along with a few other allergies and he's very thin so we wanted to make sure he was getting enough fats, vitamins, and what not. She recommended soy but I didn't like the idea of him having all those hormones. Soy is already in everything so I didn't want him having three cupfuls of it a day on top of what is already in the food we eat. I told her that and she understood. She then recommended almond milk because it is high in calcium, more so than the other milks. The only problem my peditrician had with that and the other milks is that they aren't high in fat which is important for them from 0-3 yrs old. He suggested making all their foods in healthy oils and giving them other high fat foods. We use a lot of coconut oil to cook with and I even through a spoonful in their yogurt, oatmeal and other stuff. They also love guacamole.

Thanks. These are most of my concerns. I have no desire to add more soy to her diet. I noticed the low fat content in almond milk and was concerned since that's what I was leaning towards. I'm only planning to offer it once a day for a while so maybe it's not that big of a deal.
For those that give almond milk, do you give flavored? unsweetened?

When we were doing dairy free, we went with Almond milk and did the unsweetened whwnever we could. DS was fine with it. Once in a while, if we couldn't get it for whatever reason, we'd do the regular. But DS has always been pretty good about switching between milks with no problem.

I buy unsweetened vanilla almond milk. The brand I buy is Pacific because it is organic. They now sell it at Stop and Shop as well as Trader Joes, Fairway, and Whole Foods. Stop and shop also started selling coconut yogurts in many different flavors. I give them to my boys for breakfast and add in strawberries, bananas, blueberries and granola. They gobble it up! They also sell dairy free chocolate pudding cups made with almond milk. Those are very yummy too!

Re: Best cow's milk alternative
DD had a milk allergy that she outgrew by 1 & 1/2...I gave her coconut milk instead of cows milk and never had any problems, but she was also still breast fed at this time. I believe the SO Delicious Original coconut milk had more fat and less sugar than the almond milk.
ETA: The So Delicious original coconut milk is delicious! I also drank it b/c I had to be dairy free to BF her.

Re: Best cow's milk alternative
We do soy milk because its higher in calories and fat. Bright Beginnings makes a soy pediasure we we use because its really high in calories.
We do coconut yogurt, oils and ice cream so we don't overload on soy.
