Drying up your milk supply
I am formula feeding DD and I am trying to dry up my milk. I tried cabbage leaves and tight bras. I have been engorged since Friday and I don't remember it taking this long to go away with DS. It is so hard to sleep at night since I have to sleep on my back to avoid putting any pressure on them. Any time I feed her, I get big again. If I try to burp her on my chest- BAM! Big again. Can anyone share any methods that worked for them to get it to dry up faster? How long did it take for you to dry up? TIA!!

Pump JUST long enough to relieve engorgement - like 5 min max...and gradually lesson the amt of times in a day and the amt of time in each session!

Re: Drying up your milk supply
ice packs.....and tight sports bras....it took almost a lil over a wk for me to dry up with both of my girls....dont worry it will be over soon... .....btw im not totally sure but i was told do not pump at all, dont do any stimulation to them whatsoever or it will take even longer for them to dry..keep sports bra on all day and nigth never take it off only to shower and be sure not to let the water hit them or thats a form of stimulation..good luck

Ok, so it took a week for you. It's only been 3 days for me. That makes me feel better! I thought it was weird because a book I read said it should go away in 12-24 hours. I was a little worried. Thanks so much for your reply!

How long did you BF for? 3 days isn't very long for it to dry up. I did the cabbage leaves and sports bras. After about 3 or 4 days I could tell it was getting better but it took weeks until I was completely dried up. Hang in there...and don't pump! You've already gone 3 days so if you pump now you'll stimulate more supply.

Re: Drying up your milk supply
Did you try freezing the cabbage leaves? I would put them in the freezer, pop them in my bra and take them out when they wilted- and replace with new ones. It was July and I smelt like bad sauerkraut, but it worked. Tight sports bra- I have even heard of tightly wrapping your chest in an ace bandage. No hot showers. Ibuprofin for the pain. Ice packs

Hey no problem!! So weird that it said 12-24hrs!!! I wish lol it definitely took a lil over a wk for both my girls but it gradually went away after I guess the first three days or so they didn't hurt as much as they did at the beginning ....so definitely no worries about them still being engorged at three days that's definitely still early....good luck it will be over before u know it!!
