Breastfeeding and dieting
I know you obviously shouldn't diet when you are breastfeeding as baby's main source of nutrition. But what about when baby is fully on regular table food and still nursing, so it's not their main nutritional supply? My son is 17.5 months old and nurses usually once a day, sometimes twice. For a while now, I have been planning to diet as soon as he weans. Nothing crazy, just want to limit my daily caloric intake. But I was wondering if it would be ok to start doing now. Anyone know? TIA!

Weight watchers has a program for breast feeding women. You get extra points to account for the breast feeding. I've had a lot of success with it so far!

Yep, another WW fan here. Started it when my DD was 7 weeks. She's now 7 mos and I have lost over 30 lbs.

I am not into weight watchers but I lost weight with DC one using myfitnesspal.com. They also have specific nutrition for breastfeeding.

I don't see any reason you can't start now...at 18 months and 1 nursing session a day, his body is not reliant on your milk anymore.
And unless you go crazy and eat nothing I'm sure your milk will stay.

Re: Breastfeeding and dieting
My DD is 23 months and BF's once or twice a day too. I STILL have extra baby weight that I cant seem to lose...even while trying to diet/exercise. Once DD was on table food and drinking milk from a cup, I figured it was ok to start dieting b/c her main source of nutrition was no longer my breast milk. I don't eat "diet" food, but try to have smaller portions and healthier choices. I'm hoping that when she weens completely, I'll have an easier time losing some weight.
