Pumping at work wwyd?
I just returned to work yesterday and due to construction the designated pump room is now someone's office. I am given an empty office to pump in temporarily which is fine. However I was just informed the office won't be available for me tomorrow afternoon and hr suggests I pump in the bathroom. I'm not thrilled at the idea but its just once. When I told Dh he was grossed out thinking ill be standing there with a pump and milk next to a toilet-and now I kinda think its gross too.
Would you tell them you can't pump in the bathroom or suck it up for one time?

I'd be grossed out pumping in the bathroom. By law they have to have a designated pumping room.

I would not pump in the bathroom. I can't even believe they would suggest it.
And, if you do it this once, I'm sure there will be more times where they ask you to do it in there.

Gross no way.
Is there any other office you could use? Luckily at this job I have my own office, which I would happily let someone use in order to pump if there was no other space available.

No way would I pump in the bathroom, that is so unsanitary! Tell them to go prepare their lunch in the bathroom!
I have pumped in my car before when there wasn't anywhere else available. I find that to be a fine alternative, if you're able to find an out of the way parking spot. Just bring a blanket to throw over you and some purell since you won't have anywhere to wash your hands.

Exactly. They cannot make you use a bathroom. I work in a shared office space, so what I had to do was borrow someone's private office when they went out to lunch.

thanks everyone! i didnt know that the law states no bathroom - now i dont feel bad telling them i wont pump in there
I can offer up my car - but as others posted i dont want them to think that i can use my car whenever they need that office.
Ill see what they came up with tomorrow when i go for my morning pumping session.

same here or they got me a conference room- is there anywhere like that that they can put you? I wouldnt pump in the car either- mostly because I am uncoordinated and would end up soaked lol

just wanted to update - i came in today and when i went to pump i was told they have an office for me for the afternoon; no mention of the bathroom whatsoever.
