Fussy newborn 2am to 6am

DS #2 is almost 3 weeks old. He is a perfectly happy baby during the day. He is BF and eats every 2 1/2 or 3 hours. His last feeding is around 8 and he goes to bed no problem. He wakes up a few hours later to eat again and again goes back down with no problem. But at his 2 am feeding he will eat fine and go back to bed but then is up every 10 minutes. Grunting and then crying. I pick him up and he falls back asleep and then it's the same thing all over again once I put him down. I really don't know what to do. I never had this issue with DS 1. Anyone experience this? I know that time will make things better it is just so difficult right now. Thanks!

DS hardly slept when he was a newborn. I'd be up for hours at night rocking him, trying to get him down. For the first 3 weeks or so he ONLY slept on me, which made sleeping difficult for me. Eventually he figured out how to sleep on his own at night. I say just be patient and try getting him down wherever you can at night - swing, crib, bassinet, rnp, bouncer. Swaddle him tightly and use white noise as well.

And just hang in there...it'll get worked out!

Ds is a very gassy kid so that always kept him up but he did have that witching hour which for us started around 1 am. Nothing helped lol

Is he gassy? When the witching hour happened nothing helped,he just had to grow out of it

Thanks ladies. He is a little gassy. I am going to try the rock and play and see if that helps. He is sleeping so peacefully in it now! Lol

I had the same problem. During the day, no problem but then at night, I would put DD on her basinet and she wouldn't sleep. Was up or hours and hours at night. There were times that I would break down and cry because I wasn't getting any sleep. One night I put her down on her RNP and I layed down on my couch and fell asleep. What do you know...she slept straight for 3 hours. I know 3 hours aren't long but to me at that point it was GOLD. I did that every night until 11 weeks when she transitioned to her crib and now sleeps the whole night.

It's tough in the beginning, you just have to try different things and see what works best for you.

Try gas relief drops and the rnp. That was a help and i eventually had to cut dairy from my diet. And that made a big difference. When i put her on formula she was on alimentum.
And same thing that was my dd witching hour and she grew out of it/ gas relief drops/diet change all had an impact.

Mine is 15 days old and that's about her witching hour too. My biggest problem is I can't get her to sleep anywhere but on me. People tell me she will grow out of it.
