Kid at daycare is a bully

Not sure how to handle this situation. DD goes to a in-home day care. The owner has 2 kids of her own. One who is 2 and is home all day, plus 2 other kids she watches. The other 2 children are so sweet and love my DD. The owners child is a complete spoiled brat. I hate calling children that but, this kid is just rotten. She never says hello, grabs things from my DD and runs away with them and a few weeks ago she pushed DD down for no reason. DH dropped her off that day and never said anything to the kid or her Mom. He just called me raving like a crazy person. This am she ripped toys out of my DDs hands and made her cry and her Mom does nothing about it.

I notice now that DD doesnt like to share. Not sure if it the age (1 in 2 weeks) or is it something she is picking up from bratz. Also, she stomps her feet now and she totally gets that from bratz.

I'm already looking into other arrangements but, I would like to try and work this out bc DD really likes her care taker and I hate to switch her.

switch her.. even if THIS is resolved its obvious the owner/mother isn't setting the right environment. Sure kids will be kids but still they are learning oppurtunities.

Re: Kid at daycare is a bully

sounds like the terrible 2s at its finest but what bothers me here is that the mother is not doing anything. I'd get her out Kim- a kid with no discipline is going to try more and get nastier

sorry that you have to deal with this Chat Icon

My DS is 2 and unfortunately i would consider him to be a bully, BUT i make sure to yell at him with every wrong doing he does! I feel like im contantly disciplining him but he won't learn otherwise.
My oppinion is to find someone else to watch your DD, especially if she isn't proactive in disciplining her own child.

If you can switch, I'd say switch. Like everyone said, she is in the terrible twos. But you can't just let them be terrible, even more when you are helping raise someone else's children. It comes down to the mom not teaching her child manners.

Sorry. Bad news! Get her out.
Everyone is right in saying the caretaker is NOT ideal, as she will def have her child as a favorite and is not disciplining.

I would address it with the provider. If it doesn't change then I would switch her.

I'd remove my kid from that daycare. if she does nothing IN FRONT OF YOU...I can only imagine what happens when you're not around. It would drive me nuts to think my son could be being bullied and even physically harmed while I'm at work and the caretaker won't address it bc it's her kid doing the bullying.

it seems like she is definitely going to favor her child and let her child take and use whatever toys she wants whenever she wants and that type of caretaker is just bad news for your DD
