Feeling clueless re when to start school, plz help! TIA

1st time mommy and i've got no clue on when to start looking or anything. i keep hearing about long waits for certain schools and just don't want to miss anything. ds is currently 14 months. does he need to start school at 2? if so, do i need to register now to avoid the wait? TIA!!!

Your child doesn't need to start school at 2. They have their whole lives to go to school. Do library programs, social stuff, etc., and your child will be JUST fine.

They don't have to start school. I would get them involved in programs though jsut to get them experienced to lots of different things and different people.

My DS is in daycare since I WFT but those parents I know who are home did programs just to get their kids used to time away from them and to have interaction with other kids on a regualr basis.

But its all a very personal decision.

thanks for the advice! i'm glad that i'm not missing out on registration deadlines or something. ideally, i'd like to enroll ds in a program where he can get some social time with other babies his age. can anyone rec a good program in the north shore long island area? we're near manhasset, great neck. TIA!!!

Feeling clueless re when to start school, plz help! TIA

We started mommy and me when he was 17 months. It started w/the moms in the room and now we are in a different room. I like that is getting him used to listening to others and interacting with little kids and having some sort of schedule. It is helping him to be more independent and it has helped him so much with his talking. I go to the one at my church in East Northport.
