Rear-facing to forward-facing...car sick ?
My 21-month-old is tall (75%). In our Honda Pilot, I've felt she will have plenty of room to make it rear-facing until she is about 2 1/2, but she recently got carsick and I still can't figure out how to get the smell out off the straps. Luckily, the cover came off and I washed it.
I'm wondering if she got carsick not because she was backwards but because her legs are getting too pushed up and into her belly. Regardless, I feel strongly about rear-facing for as long as possible for safety, but we are wondering since she is big (my son was much smaller) if we should consider forward-facing her sooner? When did everyone forward face? Thanks

If it happens again then maybe that could be the cause. I would hold off turning forward facing b/c of this one episode. HTH!

Soak the straps in baking soda and hot water. Le them air dry keep her rear facing unless this becomes an ongoing issue

I agree with this. Don't use any detergents or soap on the straps. Hopefully it was a one time deal.

What car seat do you have?? Read your manual on how to clean the seat or call the company! For example, Graco does not allow for their straps to be soaked or immersed in water, they'd need to be dabbed cleaned.

I don't think you are supposed to wash any brand- it does something to the "integrity" of the straps.

I know Britax allows for the straps to be immersed in water (not soaked for extended periods or time, but immersed in water to be cleaned- wet, wipe, rinse).
That's why I say it's best to call the company and they will tell you the proper way to clean the straps for your seat.
