how does bring a babysitter to your brother's wedding work...
trying to figure out how my day is going to all work that day!
My brother is getting married and all FIVE of us (me, my DH, and my 3 kids - 5, 4, 1.5 yrs old) are in the wedding....
I was offered by a family friend who is 17 yrs old to watch the kids - so I was thinking of them get announced and bring them to the bridal suite where the 17 yr old will be waiting for them - I plan on having movies, dvds, ipads, puzzles, snacks to keep them busy...but the 2 older are most likely be out on the dance floor for the good part of the night...so it is really just to watch my 18 month old and a little bit of the older two if they get tired or cranky!
But now I would like to pay her....but do you think I will also have to pay for her plate...?!?!?! I really dont want to..esp since she wont be coming out to the wedding at all...but I will also have to worry about feeding her..
anyone do anything crazy like this..any tips or suggestions as to what to do...
everyone i know is going to be at the wedding so someone to come pick them up is (probably the easiest ans..AND MOST FUN FOR MOMMY ) is not really an option!

Can you have the catering hall bring her food in the bridal suite? It probably would be the same price that it would be to feed a vendor...

why wouldn't she be "coming out to the wedding at all"? I have an 18 month old right now and there would be NO WAY she would stay in a bridal suite (especially if her sister was out with me) and not want to be with us or even be at the party. We've had a few family wedding where parents brought a babysitter and they were "at the wedding" almost the whole time. Keep the kids enterained and sat at the kid table for meals. The only time when they went to the bridal suite was when they kids were wiped out and went to sleep.
I also babysat for a wedding for a couple who had a young baby and I was able to eat at cocktail hour and they brought me in all 3 meals.
Hope that helped!

I would discuss this all with your Brother and SIL to be.
I would make sure they are ok with you using the Bridal Suite.
There was a few times I went to the Bridal suite with my DH to just take a minute or two. My wedding day was very overwhelming to me since I hate to be the center of attention.
Also, they should ask the catering hall if the babysitter would be considered a guest.

Re: how does bring a babysitter to your brother's wedding work...
yes they are all for it and want me to do whatever I feel comfortable with...I think my FSIL suggested the Bridal suite be the hang out for my kids!
I will prob be bring a pack n play for the younger and my mom and DH are guessing my little 5 yr old dancing machine wont even see the inside of the suite bec she will be on the dance floor the whole night!!!
I will ask about vendor rates! Thank you for suggesting that!!!
My 18 month old will prob be on the dance floor a bit too....but she is a little spoiled and likes to be picked up by her mommy and ESP her grandma (my mom) so I dont want my mom for a second to be picking her up in her gown...i want her to be a mother of the groom and not a grandma that night! (KWIM) So the minute she wants "uppie-uppie" I want her in the bridal suite with her snacks and bottle of milk and her blankie so mommy, daddy and grandma can enjoy themselves

Re: how does bring a babysitter to your brother's wedding work...
My nephew (bro's son)was about this age when my sister got married. Everyone else was in the wedding, so a college friend of mine babysat the nephew and niece (3yrs). The catering hall set up a table in the back for her, with a high chair and that became the kid table. She then took the kids to the hotel room when the little one got tired.
My brother paid her for the event, not per hr. Probably $100, I think (it was in MA back in '99).

I probably wouldn't even ask the hall...I'd just count her as a vendor. I think your plan is perfect for all.
