First name. We have a close relationship but I cant call her mom. She has always called her MIL by first name so that what she expects.

I call her by her first name, but I wouldn't at all be opposed to calling her mom. I love her sooo much. My mom called her MIL "mom." I think it's just an old tradition.

I think I try to avoid names... but if I need to get attention, I'll say mom or dad.... or 'll say to my kid grandpa/ma needs X....
DH calls my parents nothing - because we dont see them when we use to... he'd just start talking. they told him he could use first names if he wanted to

MIL question..
I try to not call her... its weird. She wants me to call her mom - I just can't. She absolutely doesnt like me to call her by her first name...
So now I just say grandma, or tell DH to get her attention.

I would call her mom but I think she would be weirded out so I just say Maria or grandma. We have a great relationship too. My dh started calling my mom mom but then couldn't do it so he just says their first names. My mom and dad called their in laws mom and dad so that's why it isn't weird for me. My mom was very adamant that she wanted to be called something (even her first name) since my sil at that time pretty much said hey you!

Well if she ever decides to come meet DS  I'll call her Grandma. I never referred to her as anything because I felt disrespectful calling her by her first name since we were never close and I sure as hell wasn't going to call her mom and "Mrs. W" just sounded so formal...
