2 year check up - how bad is it?
I am dreading the 2 year check up...I hate it when they need to do bloodwork on DD - a friend of ours said that it was more than the toe or finger and they they needed to hold down her son. It sounds like torture. DD seems to hate bandaids more than blood so the last two times they did bloodwork it sucked while they did it and for a while after. I have had no problems with her appointments up until now but this one I am dreading. Is it really that bad?

I suck and didn't take DD for her 2 year blood work until she was almost 3.
We went to a lab and she freaked out a bit- but it was quick. They took 1 small vial and we were on our way. She was fine after 5 minutes of whining.
When I took my little one for her 1 year blood work- she didn't even flinch!! I think it helped older DD to see that her baby sister was so "brave."

i was dreading it, too! we had to go to a seperate lab for the bloodwork. I made DH take off work and go with me  our DS did WAAAY better than I thought he would! they had him sit on DHs lap, there were two nurses there to help. Obviously, he cried and kicked a little bit.... but overall he was REALLY good, and fine as soon as it was over.
Its so hard, but its worth it to know that everything is really, really ok with them health wise.

The appointment wasn't bad - we had to go to a lab for bloodwork separately. That was rough!

DS's ped does blood work himself in his office so we didn't have to go to a lab. ExH held DS and I kept talking to him making him repeat things after me. He tensed up a little but was totally fine (no tears) and after the blood draw he got an immunization shot. No tears for that either. For DS I think the key was keeping him occupied.
It's not that bad IMO

It was totally fine. They pricked her pointer finger, squeezed enough for 2 tiny vials, and they sent it to the lab on site. Other than that, it was a routine checkup, no vaccines.

2 year check up - how bad is it?
My DS had to get bloodwork done for his 1 year and it was his arm.
Just go to a lab that is good with kid. My DS cried for a sec and a half and was fine before we even walked out. I was more worried then he was.

It wasn't bad. Our ped did the blood work herself and I helped hold dd. It was really quick. As cried for about a min and than she was onto picking out a sticker.
