Swimming Lessons
Anyone know of any in the Queens area? I checked out the YMCA in Northern Blvd but I thought is was a bit pricey. $183 for 8 classes. Is that the going rate??
Need to enroll my 3 DD

Private or group? If it is private it is a good deal.
I have done both. I paid $240 for 6, 30 min lessons (often goes over the 30 mins). I also paid $200 for 10, 45 min group lessons. I would pay the $240 again any day (well I am now). I thought the group lessons were a complete waste for younger learning swimmers (if you just want to get comfortable in the water they are fine). Much better to do group with older kids who know the strokes but are more advanced level swimmers. My 3.5 yr old DD spent the majority of the time sitting quietly on the side of the pool in a bubble belt rather than swimming and when she did get in she got one lap the got out again. With the private lessons, she is in the water 100% of the time, no swimmies or any other swim device. The instructor holds her or has her swim to him.

We just started classes at our local Y and are only paying $170 ($70 of it is a membership fee for a year and then $100 for the classes). Since DD is only 15 months I just wanted to get her comfortable in the water (it is a mommy and me type class).
I priced out Safe T Swim and it was around $300. For what I wanted out of it I am happy with the Y.

This price is great. I would have to pay $190 for just the membership than the classes would be extra.
I find everything to be much more expensive in Queens.

We are starting a mommy and me swim class today at the cross island YMCA. I'm not sure how much classes are for older kids but maybe look into that branch if its close to you. I'm paying $93 for 8 weeks and I'm not a y member.

I just signed up my 2.5 year old at Ymca in Bellerose cross island for 8 weeks for I believe $130 for the spring. And thats without being a member.
