After getting a helmet....
Did your LO have trouble with tummy time or holding their head up? DS just got his helmet yesterday and he only had to wear it for 4 hours so far. I'm afraid when he's wearing it all the time that it will make his head heavy. I've been working on tummy time and sitting independently and I feel like he could possibly sit soon. I don't want him to go backwards because of this helmet. I'm already beating myself up enough for this thing- I just hope it doesn't slow his progress 
ETA: Is the hour at night when you take the helmet off supposed to be right before bed? We rarely give DS a bath right before bed because he's not a fan of baths yet.

DS was 4 months old and I was also worried about that..
I have to say I think it helped him!
I felt like he strengthened his muscles and he met all of his milestones on the early side!
Is you LO also having physical therapy?
I definitely felt like that helped him with his milestones as well.
The helmet was the best thing we did. He had 13 millimeters difference from one side to the other. He wore it for 4 months and had PT for torticollis. He's now 2.5 and you would never know!

At the very beginning he had some trouble but I was surprised at how quickly he was able get used to it and he had torticollis also.

He is going to PT. Were you still able to do the stretches with the helmet on?

My DS was about 6 months when he got it, but it didn't negatively affect him at all.
The only trouble we had actually was when he got it off and he had to learn that banging his head into the crib/tables etc hurt! But he got that lesson pretty quick! 
Don't beat yourself up. You are doing the best thing for your child. The time in the helmet goes by quick and then soon after you'll barely remember they had one!

My twins both had helmets for plagio and PT for torticollis.
It took them a little bit to adjust but I definitely wouldn't say they regressed because of it. They just had to work a little harder, which in the end made their muscles stronger.

And quoting the above because its sooooo true!
There is nothing to beat yourself up over. Your child has an issue and you are doing everything you can to correct it.
The parents who should be beating themselves up are the ones who stick their heads in the sand and say "oh, it will fix itself" or "the helmet place just said he needs one to make more money" and don't do anything to help their children.

My PT always took the helmet off to do the stretches.

I don't think time of day matters. As it gets warmer, you will find it getting stinky. So the hour off will be needed for daily cleaning, airing it out & shampoo time for your DC.

Also, I agree with the above posters... this will be over before you know it. My son has his for 4 months last year & seems like it never even happened.
BTW, if you haven't decorated it & are interested in getting it "wrapped", I found a place in the Commack/Hauppauge area that wrapped my son's for me. Was nice to give it some personality, instead of being plain white and medical-looking.  PM me if you want their info.

After getting a helmet....
My son wore his from age 5 months to 7 months. It didn't effect any of his developemental or physical milestones. He rolled over for the first time while wearing it, sat up tri-pod style for the 1st time while wearing it. He never really seemed to notice when it was on or off. The only adjustment that I had to make was the way I held him when I rocked him for a bit at night.
As for the bath, I don't think it matters when that hour is. We took it off at bath time because it worked for us and his schedule.
Do not second guess your decision either! I did as well, I cried like a baby when they put it on him. It was the best decision we could have made for him. It will go by and be a memory before you know it.

This is exactly how I felt. My son wore it for 10 weeks without issue. He adjusted quickly. I however always felt the helmet was hanging in his eyes..but he was fine.
Hang in there momma. I think the worst part is getting hit in the head with the helmet when you wanna kiss his little head.
