How can I get my 4 week old to sleep in her crib?
The first two days my newborn was home from the hospital were by far the worst. I tried to put her down in her crib both nights and she would get up every 30 minutes screaming BLOODY MURDER. She hates her crib. She hates her bassinet. She cannot sleep in anything that is flat. She does not have reflux - never spits up (she is predominantly breastfed) and in fact barely even has to burp, so that's not it. Ever since then sleeps in her rock and play in her room without any problems - she really likes it. She just simply will not stay asleep in her crib. I have tried swaddling her. I bought a white noise machine. Nothing helps. Today I went to the pediatrician and all he said was "keep trying". He recommended trying during the day for naps and at least once each night. I feel like I am so sleep deprived I don't have the stamina to get up every half hour at this point. Any advice?

Someone once recommended this to me and for me, it worked. A baby needs to feel snuggled and cozy, so try swaddling and placing them at one end of the crib, the short way so they don't feel like they are laying in a vast open space.
At 4 weeks old, it is totally normal though, just have to hang in there and get through it.

How can I get my 4 week old to sleep in her crib?
Is there a reason you need/want her in the crib? Personally, I see no reason not to just keep her in the RnP for now, and try again for the crib in a month or so. My DD slept in her RnP for 12 weeks and then we seamlessly transitioned her out of it. I don't think you need this added stress right now!

I have no advice because I'm still having this problem with my 10 week old, who hates sleeping on anything flat too. Luckily if I swaddle and rock her and wait until she's in a deep sleep and then put her in the bassinet, she'll stay asleep... but i know i've creating a bad habit of having to rock her to sleep.... so good luck... you're not alone!

Its tough! I wanted DS to sleep in his crib early on as well and he didnt. we tried everything! he hated his basinett as well! The only place he would sleep was in her Mamaroo and the sofa on a gazillion blankets. He hated being swaddled as well, white noise did nothing..
I know it sounds annoying but I kept trying... Id try and rotate sleeping locations... one day he took an hour nap... some days he took none... my goal was hopefully by the time I went back to work he would be in his crib...now at 4mnths old he sleeps almost exclusively in his crib. KEEP TRYING! However - because you feel sleep deprived I suggest that you leave her in her RnP... GET SOME SLEEP - then try again!

At 4 weeks old, just put your DD down wherever she will sleep. She's still so young!
We had that problem early on. DS only slept in his swing for naps and at night. Then one night he was SCREAMING and wouldn't sleep in his swing, in my arms, on my chest - nothing! So I put him in his crib just to walk away for 5 minutes and get a break. And in about 2 minutes he was fast asleep, swaddled. I put the white noise machine on (it stays on all night) and never looked back. But, he still won't sleep longer than about 45 minutes for naps in his crib, so I still nap him in his swing.
Your daughter will sleep in her crib when she's ready. In the meantime, just get her to sleep wherever she can so you can sleep, too.

It's true about the "keep trying"
I tried with dd at 5 weeks, it wasn't working out for a while she would cry so I had a rule. I would try it 3 times and if she cried a 4th time I'd bring her out of the crib and in with us. Then one night she just started sleeping in her crib and that was that. She has been sleeping through the night in her crib since about 10 weeks. Just hang in there, she just might not be ready for the crib just yet.

She's still so little I would t push her. But maybe she likes the incline of the rnp so try a crib wedge

I agree. DS # 1 was in the RNP in our room until he was 4 months old, and then we transferred him to his room/crib with no issues. DS # 2 is 1 month old and he is still in the RNP next to our bed. I see us keeping him in there for at least another month, if not a bit more. Good luck!

We put both boys in their cribs from the day they came home - I found that with both, if I swaddled them and kind of tucked them into a corner of the crib they were fine -

DS didn't sleep in his crib till he was over 3 months old. He slept in his bouncer chair (on the floor of our bedroom) at night and for naps. His ped. said her own daughter slept in her swing!
I think whatever works - just use that even if it's not conventional.

ITA. There is so much you worry about as a new mom, why make this one of them if she is ok sleeping in the RnP? She won't be in it forever.

I agree with keep trying. Babies are wired to feel secure and safe when they are nuzzled into their mothers so lying in a crib all by themselves is scary for them. Eventually they will grow out of it. Maybe try velour crib sheets (smooth cotton ones feel colder) and try a noise machine with a heartbeat.
I gave up trying the crib and co-sleep. We all get much better sleep and I'm not up all night trying to lay her down.

I agree to keep trying. I put my youngest in the crib at 4 weeks old for nighttime. I elevated the mattress a bit for her and swaddled her tightly. I then put her in the crib at 8 weeks for all naps.
