My PED just informed me that DS has to get MMR at 9 mo due to travel plans we have :(
My daughter reacted to the mmr so my first response to you would it be possible to postpone your travel plans???

How would he be getting more?
He is just getting the MMR at an earlier age.
Measles, mumps and rubella are still very real dangers in many countries outside of the US. There are vaccines today because children die of those diseases. It's fine to delay here where there are no (or very rare) breakouts but not if you are going overseas.
Discuss your concerns with your ped, but honestly, if you can't delay your travel plans or leave your DS here, then I don't think you have a choice.

I agree. I would delay any other vaccines he may need at those apppointments (like chicken pox), but give the MMR.

ok I'm sorry but first yes I know why MMR is needed that is why I vaccinate my kids . I really don't need a lecture on it. And I never asked if I have a choice or not or what should I do, I just asked if anyone has vaccinated their child early and that I'm a bit frustrated that he has to get it earlier on top of all the vaccines he would normally get, that's all.

thank you, that is a good idea, but I don't really want to delay the other shots either , so I discussed with my PED and we decided we are just going to delay the MMR at 12 mo and give it to him few mo late .

Not really a response to your question but and FYI for anyone.
My older DD is going o local college next year and has to have another MMR shot because hers was given before her first birthday.
