How long are they in a toddler bed?

We are thinking of saving DS's beautiful convertible crib for the next baby and just getting a toddler bed, we think he would love a car one.

How long are they in the toddler bed? Until 3, 4?

My cousins just moved their daughter over the summer, and she was 3.5. I plan to keep DD1 in her toddler bed until she can be trusted not to take flying leaps out of bed! (She's a crazy climber/jumper. I think she's less likely to get hurt with a toddler bed b/c they're low to the ground).

Is your DS escaping from his crib? If not, I'd keep him in the crib as long as you can.

My son is 3.5 and he is still in his toddler bed...my nephew is 6 and is still in his.

We went from crip to twin size full bed. Put a rail on it, and have had no issues.

I put my DS in a twin bed with a XL bed rail at 18 months. Cars themed bedding and decals on the wall, he loves it!

Both my 3.5 & 2.5 are still in their toddler beds. I do not plan on moving them anytime soon. They are both content in theirs & when we change to a full, we comprise a lot of their room & they play in there.

if you are buying something new, I would just get a regular sized bed. I put my DD (at 2.5) in a full after the crib because I was pregnant at the time and we just figured we'd do her big girl room and done with the full bed. I will convert the crib for my son and will use it til I feel like he's too big for it, but I assume would prob be by 3ish. My daughter just turned 4 and I could not see her sleeping on that little mattress!!

We put DD in a toddler bed at 26 months. It worked fine and she could still be in it at almost 3.5, but she wanted more room. For Christmas we redid her room and bought her a twin bed. She LOVES it! For DS we will transition from crib straight to twin bed at 2 as a Christmas gift for him this year. I do like a toddler bed, but if you're buying something I say just buy the twin and put the mattress on the floor.

4.5 and in a Full (on the floor) at home but a toddler bed at Auntie's house

eta: she went to her toddler bed at 20m but she wanted a bigger softer bed a little past 4..

I'm wondering this myself. My first went directly from the crib to a regular bed at 2.5. At 2 my DD went into a toddler bed and she is now 3. It still has plenty of room for her (it was a large sleigh crib). But, I'm wondering what's the max time you use one and when I have to get a big bed?

My dd is close to 3 and she loves her toddler bed. We plan to move her at 4 to a twin bed and than give the toddler bed to my youngest dd.
