While it is unbearbaly heartbreaking to have to see, it is THE REALITY of what happened. I cannot imagine if it were my child, but I dont think it is too graphic and I think it really evokes emotion. Maybe it should serve as a wakeup call to "look what we are doing to one another, our children"

No. Its a reality check so people come out from under the bubble many exist in. This is how some parts of the world live everyday.

I'm a little conflicted but I think the whole point is to really shock and cause a raw visceral reaction to the viewer. They want us to be shocked, disgusted, scared, angry, and react. Something like this should not be sanitized IMO. It's hard to look at but that's the point, we need to see what our world is becoming.
This is actually tamer to me than the infamous picture that came the day after the Oklahoma City bombing where the firefighter was carrying the dying 1 year old girl Baylee Almon.
Agree on all points here.
Many photos exist that are gruesome but accurately portray the situation. This is one, and it's actually one of the tamer images.
Napalm girl, the OKC bombing photo, Kevin Carter's photo of the starving child being stalked by the vulture, 9/11's falling man........
They are controversial because they evoke emotion, which they should.
We can not sanitize events like this just because they cause US, the viewer, pain to view them. This is what happened, this was the reality and sugar coating images because it may turn your stomach or make you cry is a disservice to those who were directly affected.
