Pink Eye questions..
Just so you know I did do a search on here for this topic but I could not find specific answers so bear with me....
DS has been slightly congested for two days then today after he had a quick nap his eye had some green / yellow discharge...I got him to the PED about 3 hours later and he diagnosed him with Pink Eye and prescribed some prescription eye drops. I have given him one dose and then he fell asleep so tomorrow will be his first full dose of antibiotics.
Questions"
1) When is it safe for him to be around other kids - apart from my DD who is going to be careful around him ( Ped said he was not contagious after he had taken two doses of eye drops but I have read other things online)
2) From reading online it seems there are a few types of pink eye...commonly viral and bacterial...viral seems to just run its course and bacterial seems to need eye drops...how do you know the difference? This PED is not our usual ped so that is why I am questioning his diagnosis a bit.

Pink Eye questions..
This same thing just happened to my DD and I'm still not convinced she had pink eye. Regardless, my DD was allowed to go back to day care the very next day after her diagnosis, so you should be fine by tomorrow. A friend of mine's son had the same symptoms last week and her ped just said he had a cold in his eye, so I guess that would be the viral strain - he wasn't even given an antibiotic.

24 hours after starting the drops you are considered to be not contagious- at least that was what my ped told us last time ds had it

24 hours after starting meds. I've gotten pink eye a lot from working with kids and having my daughter in daycare

My son just had pink eye this week. The doctor said after the first day of antibotics he was fine to go back to daycare.
Good luck = the drops were torture for me to do
