Flat head spot/ torticollis

My 9 week old DD was recommended to a PT because my ped thought she had torticollis. Turns out she has only the beginning stage of it. She noticed that she does have a flat spot on her head and told me to do lots of tummy time and that the only time she should be on the back of h head is to sleep and to limit her time in car seat, rocker and swing. She should be on her tummy most of the day and we have exercises to do. My question is... How did you get through the day with them this young with limited time in all those seats. Please share your experiences.

I dont have any experience with this, but can you wear her around in a baby bjorn or sling? Baby wearing allows you to do things, but also keeps her out of those infant seats.

I went through this with twins & yes, oh yes it's hard. YOu can carry her in a bjorn You can even get those baby moon pillows or another called noggin nest. Keep in mind though that you know what the child head looks like. Our Dr said leave baby alone but I knew it was not right. We got helmet for our son at 6months. He wore for 10 weeks. The longer you wait, the longer they will have to wear it.

At the age and with the doctor telling you to limit seats, I would say wear your LO in a bjorn.
I also used my boppy pillow for tummy time.

Sometimes its hard to go to the therapy because baby will cry. Just keep in mind what we feel like after going to gym. Our muscles hurt. Your DH muscles are tight also...so may take a bit for them to loosen up.

One of my girls has torticollis due to her sister squashing her in utero! We have been going to PT for almost 2 months now (once a week) before that we were only seeing a specialist who told us what kind of stretches and exercises to do but I felt like the extra help from the PT would be best. Tummy time is the best thing for them at this stage. When you're not doing tummy time you can try having your LO lay on the opposite side or put them on their back and prop up the side they lean on. Biggest fear of mine was she would get used to seeing the world from that slanted view and then her brain would think its normal. So I always held her head straight while I talked to her or played.

I do see improvement and I think a lot has to do with going to the PT early!

get a noggin nest its impossible to really limit time on their back at this age but the noggin nest really helps! we use one for DD since she sleeps in the RNP.

once they are sitting up, their heads usually round out but if you can limit the flat spot now, all the better

Also, if you are noticing a flat side, make sure you change arms when feeding her. I tend to have DD in my left arm so I can feed with my right. By 4-5 weeks, I was noticing a flatter side on her right side so I make sure I switch arms now when I feed and thats helping.

My DS had a flat spot too, but once he started rolling over it kinda corrected itself

Def get the noggin nest. My ds was colic, and we carried him so much his head was getting flat from our arm.

Noggin nest fixed him, we kept in in the stroller, he napped on it ( I could see him). Even if we were carrying him, we put his head on it. Sounds crazy but worked
