Sandbox.. great idea or bad news?
I want to get DD a sandbox .. but im not sure if its a good idea or not.. she is almost 1.5.

I took my DD to a sandbox twice, and both times she tried to eat it. Let me tell you now, sandy poo is not fun.

Sand table not sand box. I never wanted anything they would sit in.
Dd is 5 and DS is 2 and they still love it. I have the little tikes one with the water table and it has an attachment for a sun umbrella

Hate it! We have one and I never let my kids use it because it just such a pain to get the sand off of them. I would day sand table is a better option

I prefer sand tables . I hate sand boxes bc they get filthy and get bugs. DS got a sand/ water table at 1 but i didnt put sand in until a yr later.

My parents got my twins a sandbox last year and I hated it bc I would freak about messes.
However, DH let my 1yo play in it this year and he LOVES it. It's not nearly as messy as I thought. He doesn't eat the sand.....we put a lot of toys in there for him. He loves climbing in and out too. We just make sure that we cover it each night.
We also have a sand/ water table. I don't like putting sand and water in bc the kids mix it together.

Sandbox.. great idea or bad news?
My daughter loves her sandbox - I think we got it for her 2nd birthday. It's the big red crab one that has a cover, so we only open it up occassionally but she always has a blast. She never seems bothered by the sand which surprised me.

I'm anti-sandbox. I don't even like the idea of sand tables. The only place I can tolerate sand is at the beach and even there I hate how it gets into every crevice of everything. My DD is 20 months and plays in a sand table at school. She has never tried to eat it or throw it around, but I am constantly watching to make sure she doesn't splash the sand up and get it into her eyes or anything. So, to make a long story short, I vote no to anything sand-related. If you do decide to get a sandbox, just make sure it has a good cover so it doesn't become a litter box for neighborhood cats. This is one complaint that friends of mine have had about their sandboxes.

Sandbox.. great idea or bad news?
DD is 20 months and loves her sandbox. Last year she got it all over the place, so far this year she uses it to fill up buckets and shovel.

DS absolutely loves playing in the sand but I dont think we are going to get one. Our local park which is walking distance has a giant sand play area which he loves. When I was a kid we had that fisher price turtle sand box and any time the lid blew off stray cats in the area would pee in it. drove my parents nuts. thats enough to make me hold off for now

DS is 22 months and we just got a sandbox. He loves it. We got play sand at home depot to fill it and it's different then regular sand. When you brush it off it basically turns to dust and goes away.
So far I love it and have no complaints. We have the little tikes turtle with a cover.

MIL got DD a sandbox last year for their house when DD was 1 and DD had little interest in it. This year she played in it yesterday and I am still cleaning sand off of her even after a shower. MIL is getting DD a water table which I think DD will love much more. I am anti sandbox.

DS has a sandbox and absolutely loves it. We bought it when he was 1.5 and he's now 3.5 and still loves it. Plays in it whenever we are in the backyard - spring, summer and fall. It was one of our best purchases. We have never had any issues. We make sure to keep the cover on if it's not in use and have NEVER had an issue with bugs or anything else.
ETA: I recommend the TRU sand, it's great. We bought one extra bag of play sand at Home Depot in the fall and I hate it, it's very dusty. Hate it so much I'm dumping our 250 lbs of sand and replacing all of it.
