BTDT or those who already registered
Could you ladies clear up the confusion here with bedding? .. I know the baby isn't supposed to use the blanket and the bumper that goes with the themed bedding sets. So .. .what else is there besides the sheets? Is that the only part of the set people really buy?
I'm thinking of room decor since we'll be registering soon and wondering if I should even bother looking at the sets from BBB, PBK, etc.. or just look at sheets.

I'm on my third and never got a bedding set. I just bought different kinds of sheets and sometimes use a crib skirt. When they are bigger and stickin g arms and legs thru the sides, I use a breatheable bumper.

Re: BTDT or those who already registered
We got a set and have only used the sheets and crib skirt. When DS was really little we used the blanket for him to lay on on the floor. But it's been in his closet for a while now...
For this one I think we will just get sheets.

The bedding sets that runs $200 are really a waste because all you will use because its safe to use is the fitted sheet, and crib skirt. The bumpers are not safe and the comforter is a no no.
Not as far along as you but know I am getting sheets with matching crib skirt and the breathable bumper.

Ok thanks everyone, this is what I figured... You would think with all my experience gazing at friends registries over the years I would have figured this all out already
All I know about my nursery is we are probably doing a lion theme. We're already a cat house. will be king of the jungle!

Re: BTDT or those who already registered
I got the set bc I thought it was cute, do we use it...no but I hang the blanket over the crib to look nice and we have the matching valance for the window, lamp , throw blanket and trim on the wall so it the 'theme' of the room.
TOTALLY unnecessary I guess but cute nonetheless lol

I got a crib skirt and quilt at Pottery Barn so I didn't have to buy a complete set that would be wasted.

OMG that is SO stinking cute. Our will have a big cat sister too.
As far as the bedding set we registered for, I picked one out without the bumper. It has the quilt, 2 sheets, valance (we'll need to buy another separately), diaper stacker and a few wall decals. If needed we'll get the breathable bumpers. HTH

Re: BTDT or those who already registered
We didnt do the comforter or bumpers. Thats why I went to carousel.com because you can pick and choose different fabrics and peices. I did a registry. We did a blanket instead of comforter. They can use it when they are older but I really could have gone without it. It hangs on the ends of the cribs for now. Then we got a crib skirt, matching sheets and a diaper holder bag (which I also don't use lol) They also had changing pad covers that would have been good but my set was white and well no one wants a white poop stained changing pad cover.

I got the sets as well. I always hung the comforter/quilt on the glider or in the front of the crib (when baby wasnt sleeping in it of course) to complete the decor in the room. I didnt use the bumpers.

We did pbk. We got the sheet, rug, bumpers, and a nightlight to match. Probably wont do bumpers this time around. I would not buy a whole set

Re: BTDT or those who already registered
I used the fitted sheets and the carter's ones are so soft. I got a crib skirt, valance, and once my kids were over 1 year old they did use the blanket. I never used the bumpers with my kids.

I got a set. I used the bumpers from day one and when my son hit about 9 months I began using the comforter. I don't understand the point of breathable bumpers. I will also say my son did not come home from hospital until 8 weeks old (born 12wks premature) and did not go into his crib until 5 months old.

Same here. For DS 1, I bought a crib skirt and breathable bumpers as well but, didn't even use them with DS 2 (when the crib is down to the lowest level, you can't use the crib skirt anyway).

I ended up doing PBK and got the set with the quilt, crib skirt and fitted sheet. I figured while I wont use the quilt just now, I will eventually. My crib is a convertible so like it or not, this is her bedding and furniture for a loooong time. :O)

Re: BTDT or those who already registered
Just the sheets...but I also bought a waterproof crib mattress pad just in case there were any leaks, lots of drool, etc. I never used the quilt last time and the bumpers for a short time when she was older....This time I plan on using just sheets, maybe bumpers, that's it.

Re: BTDT or those who already registered
I bought an inexpensive set. The reason I got a full set is that the blanket can be used once you change to a toddler bed if you are getting a convertible crib. I still would not get a super expensive set.

Re: BTDT or those who already registered
I had my stuff made by a friend!! I am very picky and I wanted exactly what I wanted and felt it would mean so much more coming from a friend! She is making me pretty much a whole set, since its cheaper I figure it will get used one day....she is making sheets, bumpers (thin), a quilt, valances, a boppy cover, and changing pad covers. She is also making him a name quilt form my old hockey jerseys, which I'm extremely excited about!!! I figure I will probably use it more than baby, but It's going to mean so much to him when he's older!!!

Re: BTDT or those who already registered
We bought two ridiculously $$ sets from Pottery Barn, even after people told us it was a waste of $. Well, it was a waste. We only used the sheets and bed skirts. I will tell you not to buy all of it, and you will anyway
